No, I didn't remove any codes.....

The part numbers on the slip rings are the same..... but first, I'll make sure buttons work with the original ring & stalks.

EDIT: buttons work with original slip ring!

I'll update when finished.

Cheers for the heads up on the coil!

Yes mate..... you were spot on with the cause!

Swapped over the slip rings & everything is working! Not sure I liked coding the whole car.... prefer doing the individual modules.

Next on my list - heated leather seats....... Haven't got time today to put down the new wiring.... next weekend!

Just to show pics of the fault:

What I think has happened - the slip ring had done a few rotations & the ribbon was at the max prior to install (ie you can only turn the steering wheel so much before you lock).

So when I installed the part & turned the wheel, the ribbon broke (I actually hear it snap but at the time, didn't know what it was).

Anyway - To all..... prior to install, I'd take the cover off & just ensure it hasn't been rotated too many time, otherwise this will happen to you!

That's what usually happens, happened to me which is why I knew what the issue was immediately :)

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and have recently purchased a 57 plate 123d Msport Coupe. Loving the car so far and now looking to fit cruise control.

I have read through all the guides and this thread and now know I need to order part 61319123040 as I have MFSW and non-auto wipers. However I have found two versions of this part with different centres, can someone please advise which one I need, I'm really sorry if this has already been answered but my car is due in the local garage for this next week and I need to order the right one...

Should it be flat fronted like this one;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131874109498

Or should it have connectors like this one;

http://r.ebay.com/rnsNfQ

Thank you.

Alex :-)

Also one other quick question, real oem has the following note which is likely to be applicable to my car...

On vehicles produced up to
10/31/2008, before ordering the
steering column switch module
refer to PUMA measure 28753830 as well as the repair manual REP 61 31 009.

Does anyone know what this actually means and will this affect the parts I need to order?

Thank you again.

Alex.

Afternoon All,

Now that I have all the parts required to retrofit,
is there anyone who would be able to fit and code for me locally?

I am based in Norwich, Norfolk but happy to travel within East Anglia Area. A local garage has agreed to charge me £120 to fit and code the parts but would much rather have a forum expert work on my pride and joy...

The good news, is that my cruise control has now been fitted and is working great and the display is showing the speed when set etc. :)

The bad news, is that the multifunction buttons have now stopped working :?

Will need to take the car back to the garage in a week or so...
