Power folding mirrors retrofit.

Post by v-spec » Wed Mar 09, 2016 5:37 pm

Hi All

Just need a few things clarified for the next part of my retrofitting project. I just bought some powerfolding mirrors and the necessary powerfolding switch. My car is an 2008 118d m sport with standard electric mirrors.

Living in london im always having to put my mirrors in manually especially on busy roads, bit of a pain so fitting these would be handy.

Now i realise its not just a plug and play thing (i should be so lucky) from my research its actually a bit of a b@ll ache!

So what i want to know is has anyone done it on here?

1. Do i need a module or is it in the footwell (FRM) even though i don't have electric power/memory seats

2. I need to buy extra wiring looms for it? i think i do do cotsworld supply this?

If anyone lives in london NW that can help with installing and coding these let me know! Ill be happy to lend a hand and pay.

Thanks

Vish

You need the extra looms in the doors if you don't have electric seats., otherwise they are plug code and play.

Muuuaa haa haaa excellent Wibbles! So ill order the extra wiring looms, they have to be wired into the FRM though? Ive read about the extra tilt function when put into reverse, thats an awesome option!

Pretty sure they just need fitting in the doors. Have a Google or a search on E90post

You are using some pretty awful photo software, those images are impossible to view on Tapatalk and only just viewable on a laptop.

Hhhmmm interesting I use an online software called postimage.org, seems to work on my phone and my mac when I view the pictures?

What do you recommend?

I'll be following with interest as I would love folding mirrors.

Especially for the tilt on reverse.

What I don't understand is where do the motors go that fold the mirrors?

They are built in to the mirrors - you have to change the mirrors to versions with the folding mechanism.
