Gone for Petrol

Post by jim1946 » Fri Jul 28, 2017 11:11 am

Hi after asking questions re petrol or diesel, the decision was petrol, I was concerned that I would not get the engine up to temp. to clean the filter.
But the major price drop on diesel cars was very tempting, and they drove really nice, could not fault them.
The new F45 car is really nice, noisier than the 118i, but the power from a 1.5 engine surprised me, nearly as good as the 118i. the good points for me are.

Front wheel drive.
Higher off the ground, the lights at night should not dazzle as much, getting out of a low car hurts the legs now, and 1 older friend could not get in
the 118i
Great room in the back, and my older friends should have no problem getting in.

Still I miss the 118i the car was in great condition having only done 37K , it just no longer ticked all of the boxes.
thanks to all of the comments from my previous topic (help petrol or diesel)

Has anyone found any door paint protectors for the F45 as the edge of the doors are crimped differently, just ordered some stick on ones from China, the only ones I could find.

Hi Jim

Welcome to the F45 and having had a 118d Coupe before purchasing our 218d almost three years ago at the end of November and no regrets about the car except should have gone for auto purely an age thing!

In respect to your query we've also been unable to buy anything other than the stick-on type for the door edges so unfortunately can't help but enjoy the car.

I received the stick on door protectors, then deciding they needed some modifications, the back door ones had a curve opposite to the door, so I cut the clips of the back cleaned them up and stuck them on the opposite door the angle was much better. on the front ones I cut the clips part way through to reduce the pressure on the clip these worked fine.
Later that night I went out and the rain was heavy, arrived home later and the clips fell off.
back to the drawing board.
