Parrot Asteroid Smart

Hi

It's playing on my mind and I feel it is something I have to have.

I am thinking of getting the Parrot Asteroid Smart, currently I have a Pioneer DEH-X8700DAB But just fancy a change, I have the Connects2 CTSBM009.2 to retain the Parking Sensors and Steering Controls, with the Pioneer Patch Lead.

If I go down the route of getting the Parrot Double DIN, I know my Dashboard will require chopping internally as well as a Double DIN Fascia, but what else will I need to retain the PDS (front and rear) and Steering Controls?

Thanks

OK sorted, so hopefully all will be well.

In 2017 is this still a worthwhile buy, or are there any other options I should consider? I know there are a lot of Chinese Android units out there... I just require something that will retain all warning chimes, pdc and steering controls.

Thanks again :)

It depends on your budget and what features you're after? My Pioneer AVIC-F80DAB has everything that I could want AND more but it's not cheap.

£710 for the unit.
£140 for the fitting kit.
£150 approx labour to fit including dash modification if going from OEM stereo to aftermarket.

Single DIN is cheaper and you can get cheaper Double DIN's but my Double DIN is pretty top end.

I have a DAB Antenna on mine as well on my windscreen, seems to drop out quite a bit compared to the OEM DAB in the F20 courtesy car I had when mine went in.

I think that MIGHT help but it won't look great mind you! I'm not sure if there is a DAB Booster/amplifier available. Last time I looked there wasn't. On my AVIC-F80DAB I have the option to have an amplified signal or not from the stereo, Pioneer recommend having it off strangely enough!

I read a couple of reviews where the user placed it in their Boot and it worked ok, then another saying it was of no improvement over the Windscreen jobby. I was thinking of placing it in the Boot somewhere.

It's just a pain because the FM Antenna is part of the rear Windscreen.

Will do, but surely the Car Bodywork won't interfere or cause zero signal if it is in the Boot area would it not?

There is one review where it is said to be placed on the Dashboard inside the car and it works fine.

Got the DAB Antenna in the Boot, it's absolutely useless, I'd say worse than the Windscreen effort, but sadly it's too late to remove it now (the Antenna in the Boot) as the cable is under the Carpet. If it weren't for this i'd return it. What may not work for me could for you. It seems to work OK when parked up but driving about not really.

Got the underseat subs in place now, they sound great!

I managed to remove the Head Unit to connect the Windscreen DAB Antenna, slightly better, atleast it works when it wants to when the Car is being driven.

Just need to work out what type of Tool I need to remove the undertray of the Glove Box?

Thanks.

Are you talking about the panel underneath the glovebox where there is a light above the passengers feet in the footwell? Or the glovebox itself? The panel I'm talking about is held in with 2 or 3 torx screws then it'll slide/fall out.

Which bit are you talking about? I feel we're talking about two different things.

Sorry for using the Video.

How you been? Do you still have the E82?

I ended up getting a Pioneer AVH-X4900DAB Double DIN

As crap as DAB coverage can be, I couldn't live without my fix of Kiss & Kisstory.

Sadly the Parrot doesn't have DAB I don't think. And is getting on in years now.
