One popular recurring topic appears to be:

what size wheels and/or tyres can I put on my 1er?
The easy answer is stick to the OEM specs which can be found .

However, going outside these specs, especially with 19" wheels can involve a little trial and error so I would like to invite members to share their experiences and show us your aftermarket wheels and/or tyres together with your details as set out in the following example.

Don't be shy now!!! Your 1er can be forever immortalized
as a benchmark example on BabyBMW.net but please follow the format for everyone's benefit

Finally, please keep this thread free of discussion, if you would like to ask a question, please post .

Ive been through a few sets of wheels now, started off with the standard 207Ms.
Then went for BBS RC041 all round in Black, then broke them on a pothole. And got BBS RC041/042s 17x7.5 front 17x8.5 rear both ET41.

Then bought some 19" Style 230s. 19x8 ET37 all round, (225/35/19 tyres) perfect fitment even when lowered, pictured in anthracite prior to refurb and then silver. These are now for sale.

And now Ive got these on - 18" Style 32s. 18X8 ET47 Front, 18x8.5 ET50 Rear, 225/40/18 Pirellis all round, powder coated in Anthracite by CBF Powdercoating Sheffield. Rears could do with 15mm spacers though.

Can some one tell my will 18" 9j et 45 all round fit my BMW 1 series hatchback 3dr msport with out rubbing the car is standard .??? Thanks
All depends on the size of tyre, i think a 255 would rub, but a 225 wouldn't

Don't think the rears will, but you might need a spacer up front and I think they might jut out on the front anyway with the spacers. Why are you going for such a wide tyre up front? Steering will feel much heavier too. Imo the max. rim width for the fronts should be 8J

I currently have 8.5 front and 9 rear, 205 front and a 225 rear, no rubbing

Not a fan of stretched tyres, think they look silly - but each to his own. I prefer having a bit of rim protection too

I wonted to go a big j on the front for more concave so you think I should go 8j front an 9j back .????
Personally yes I'd go for that for more balanced driving. Others prefer a square set-up. Really the biggest issue which you might have with the measurements you mentioned is whether the fronts will fit properly

I had 9" front and 10" rear with no rubbing. 215/35/19 and 235/35/19.

Sold them and going down to 8" front and 9" rear 205/35/18 and 215/40/18

I've got some 205/35/18 and 225/35/18 if you're interested, rears have some inside camber wear - but directional, so can be switched over
