Next time the car doesn't start, if possible, try and jump start it using the terminals in the engine bay.

Check the positive cable that runs from the battery to the front of the car. These are known to corrode and cause the issue you are experiencing.

I doubt any manufacturer will be investing heavily in petrol engine development.
Most of the money will be going towards developing the electric versions.
They will get a decent four pot and just revise it for adaptations throughout the range.

Try driving along slowly and pump the handbrake. This is recommend by BMW to keep the faces clean and the auto adjustment working correctly.

Give your dealer a call and they will order you one. If they fit the same way as the E series you will need to replace the two plastic expanding fixings on the bottom edge as they are impossible to remove without destroying them.
