Re: M140i vs Golf R

Maybe it's because I've been driving RWD for years, but I enjoy the fun of driving a RWD car in cold/wet conditions, certainly makes for some good fun when pressing on! :D I agree 100% that driving RWD in cold/wet/snow is immense fun in this car, even in the dry with very dusty roads round here it'...

Even my old 1995 Mr2 was fun, if slightly dangerous in all but bone dry conditions.

Re: How long before 3ltr M140 discontinued?

I think you also have to factor in the generation of drivers who are, perhaps, more in tune with an automatic/dual clutch gearbox with steering wheel/column mounted shifters. Go back 20 years and that just didn't exist and automatics really were tosh in comparison to these days. Yes there will be t...

Re: Disaster on day 1

Wowsers, what was he doing trying to handbrake a RWD BMW? They are not known for being able to do that easily.

Hope you get it sorted, intercooler should be OK as long as no leaks.

I must remember when my lad is old enough to drive NOT to take his new car out for a spin!! :D

Re: BMW recall

Has anyone had a second recall notice through today? The post just arrived with a BMW recall notice so I assumed it would be an actual appointment for the battery cable recall, but this seems to be a new notice about an air con/blower recall where running the air con at Max AC can cause a fire!! Thi...

Re: Trade in Value

What do you do if the X1 breaks down, or needs to go into the dealership for a few days? Not sure I could chance just having 1 car suitable for the family and another with just 2 seats. I would be too anxious about not being able to get anywhere as a family is something happened to the family car. I...

Re: Trade in Value

I'm eyeing up an MX5 myself, wonderfully fun lightweight cars, with just enough room in the boot for a hairdryer and scissors.... Cheap motoring, more than enough for my 1 mile to work commute. I worked out it would cost me the same amount in monthly payments to run the MX-5 for 2 years as it would...

Re: Car park exit ramp damage, advice please

That looks absolutely retarded. Have never seen those in Australia. What's wrong with a boom gate? Yes, more expensive to set up, but then again, it's not retarded like those spiked humps look to be. Hospitals in the UK do everything they possibly can to make a stressful situation 100 times more st...

Re: Air con issues - F20

Try running the air on system very hot for a while, up at max temp. This can get hot enough to kill the bacteria off but is tricky in summer.

Make sure aircon is on year round as well.

Re: Cruise control with brake function

It’s still pretty good. Our E91 has std cruise without braking and it’s a pain when going downhill and it speeds up, particularly on the motorway in those damn average speed zones. In my 240 I like that it keeps the set speed up or downhill. My E91 used to maintain speed when CC and going downhill,...

Re: Do not get the dealer to wash your car!!! They damaged it (BMW Cooper Teesside)

Sh*t happens, people make mistakes all the time. I did exactly what's happened to you on our E91 when we'd only had it a few months, was washing it with the hose and the hose slipped out of my hand and the end went straight down one of the panels and left a nice scratch!! At least they have offered ...

Re: speccing up a new M140i shad

how often does somebody else drive it? electric seats are only good if always swapping drivers. I disagree, there is only me that drives mine but I wouldn't be without them. The unlimited adjustments over manual are a godsend, and the memory function is perfect for when it's in for service and the ...
