Re: Banning Diesels

I wasn't sold a lie, I knew exactly what I was buying and more than happy to do so. Me too - I needed an derv as I do 25/30k a year and not rinse me...still can't beat a diesel for this kind of work - be a long time before we have increased tax and banning them - city centres maybe, but who wants t...

Re: DPF Regeneration?

Hi, I was wondering if the exhaust sounds a lot deeper when the DPF regenerates ? I just drove down the M1 and it sounded a bit deeper and louder especially when accelerating. Is there any way to tell if it did a Regen or what could I watch out for ? Lastly can I check when the last regen was done ...

Re: Oil

without googling it - probably more cleaning agents as Edge can be used in diesels - but I wouldn't know really. I stick any LL04 in my diesel, job done! :)

Re: N47 Timing chain info thread *QUALITY ENHANCEMENT/RECALL ISSUED* - please read before posting

The chain may well of stretched if the oil hadn't been changed enough times in its life? When I say enough - not 20k between services. Chains do break and tensioners do fail on a lot of cars - usually rare, but you might of just been unlucky mate. BMW repair issue - I don't know, have you got a warr...

Re: Banning Diesels

Diesel technology has progressed a hell of a lot even in 10 years! And it is only going to get better - the sting in the tail is the old diesel engines (<2006) maybe? Tax will just go up on these - like they already have done, I don't think for a minute it will effect new diesels being built as they...

Re: MOT and clutch judder check tomorrow.

It's the flywheel that does the juddering damper plates or something. Mine juddered pending on temp was original clutch/flywheel 2008/58 then eventually all the time - had it replaced having lived with it (130k) when the DMF started vibrating at idle, scary when these start jumping around! G...

Re: replacing parking/side light bulb 116d

Changing bulbs has always been a problem on modern cars usually - I usually get mine done with blood, sweat and tears. sometimes takes me hours to change a bulb. There are a few manufacturers where you have to physically take the bumper off to gain access! Ridiculous! Another scheme to get yo...

Re: Timing chain change?? Where to get it done

Booked in with Peter van der veer in Huddersfield on Saturday, £1200. Hopefully after this I'll get another 85k out of the old dirty diesel  £1200 is cheap - if you factor in the cost of couple of cam belts in a cars life. I mailed Peter Van years ago - asking same question about chains. He sa...
