I had a 2008 (58 plate) 118d sold it @170k no issues at all with timing chain, only sold it as it as too small for me now (would of kept it if i had the space) was a cracker! The later the better. I would be looking at 58 plate vehicles if your on a budget.

N47 is fine - look carefully at the history more specifically oil regime's - these are good engines and seem very sensitive to oil services. Many can do silly mileages more than most people will feel happy in driving around with, 200-250k I know many trundling up and down the country with nothing bu...

Re: Dunlop BluResponse on E87 118d

Thanks - but I found these little soft, grippy but soft, so beware of tread wear :)

Running these on my E91 now and don't match the car because of its extra weight but they were cheap.

Re: N47 Timing chain info thread *QUALITY ENHANCEMENT/RECALL ISSUED* - please read before posting

There was never anything wrong with the chains or camshaft - perhaps a dodgy batch in the early 2007 batches. But, anything after that is just dam unlucky. Prolong oil service regimes are known to be the issues of creating this problem further along the line, anything after 50k it's advised to chang...

Re: Oil leak b37

Think that is rather normal (someone's gonna tell me it isn't now) :) - think this is the crankcase breather hose and that thing sucks very hard, these use to leak a little on the N47 - I usually replace the hose when it gets hard and brittle.

Re: N47 120d Oil type

Stick any glupe in along as its LL04 - all is good - I use to run my 118d on cheapest LL04 - mixture of branded and EuroCarparts TripleQX or whatever was on offer, OpieOIls have a cheap LL04 called G-Force - make sure you change it very 8k MAX. I plan to do exactly the same for my 3er now.

Re: Pulsing from my car

Yup EGR mine went at 167k '58 plate 118d - couldn't even get the dam thing off - was in garage for 3days!! The EML light will light up at somepoint if left...

If not EGR as I see you change it - what's the DPF condition like?
