Re: Clutch Judder?

How long will it last? Who knows? It will wear some of the clutch away. The best long term fix is a new clutch and flywheel. (Doing this technique every now and then) My flywheel lasted until 135k it's the flywheel that's the issue, I got new clutch fitted at the same time, wear was completely mini...

Re: 2014 116d rear creak sounds

Yeah had the same on my E81 - get it up on the ramps if you can and spray some WD40 or equivalent into each joint (there is alot back there, a hell of alot compared to other cars) solved my creaks and groans forever.

Re: 123d - to keep or not to keep?

Jack - yes have a warranty in place, but need a reliable motor which 100k+ on mine may be asking for trouble. Love the spec on mine, but not enough to risk being without it when it eventually breaks down. 100k+ isn't a lot on a car these days - I've seen N47 engines go higher than 200k and know few...

Re: Start-Stop

Never used it - utterly pointless and will get it coded out eventually when I can be bothered - for now its part of my routine when start car to turn it off manually :)

Re: Start-Stop

Heard they are bad for timing chains "N47 diesel" constant stop starting and loading the chain up, some torque pulls on that engine on start up im sure...cant be good for longevity?

Re: 123D Timing chain

Get some silicone spray on the aux belt tensioners and pulleys and see what occurs. I was shitting myself about the dreaded chain and it turned out my top belt tensioner was goosed. Notice in your vid that the alternator pulley looks ugly. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk Good shout ^^ I also w...

Re: 123D Timing chain

or...just get it fixed if warranty won't fix it - I wouldn't say the chain is imminently about to go listening to this...I've heard many worse! In the end its only £900/1000ish to fix if you find a good indie, if that, may seem a lot, but if your wanting to keep it for a while longer, 123k is hardly...

Re: Winter wheels and tyres

used various over the years Avons I highly recommend, also Coopers. But got myself some cheap Rikens (read good things on these) this year from Camskills, will see how these fair at end of year :)

Any are better than summers at that time of year though, try to get XL ones if you can.

I would happily use it as a limp-you-home option, assuming it clears the 3ers brakes. Not as a long term solution though.

Hmm yeah, I may just use it as that, I'm being tight, can get a correct steel rather cheap so not worth it is it really.. Thanks Marco!

1 Series wheels on 3 series?

I have a spare offset = ET44 118d steel wheel from previous car...will this fit my 318d E91?

I have 3 steel wheels that are ET31 - will this look odd to run a different offset wheel to the others? (Winter setup)

They are standard 16" rims so 7J I presume

Re: Are there any issues with remapping a higher milage n47 car

Think the gearbox needs to come out on these for a clutch and flywheel, very brave doing it on your drive :)

Re: N47 Timing Chain Failure

If you buy this car and use this engine for what it is made for.e.g long commuting and sitting at motorway speeds, its is a very good engine. It is the best modern diesel there is , the way things are going there isn't any point in going for an older diesel engine in the near future (e.g the ...

318d E91 - will this offset look crap?

I have X3 steel wheels (winter setup) offset 31 - which i believe is correct offset for the E91 3 series. ...but, I have a spare steel wheel I used on my previous 118d with a new tyre mounted on, which I believe has an offset 44? So if run X3 wheels with offset 31 and X1 with offset 44 - is there go...

Re: Strange Noise 116d E87

Hi, I would expect chains to chatter all time and not just under load, not that im ruling it out as I know that N47 can be weak but im a believer that only bad reviews seem to make it onto the interweb! If the chains were bad they would make a noise all the time, especially on cold start up. I am o...
