Re: Supplying own oil for main dealer service

How do you know the oil you supply gets in the car?
The fitter might keep your oil for his own car and stick some cheap Halfords stuff in... :D

Re: F21 underbody brace on F20

Cost saving by BMW?
Perhaps they fitted harder rubber rear subframe mounts (no extra cost), so they delete the brace and save a few euros?
Anyway,it's a good mod for the money.

Re: F21 underbody brace on F20

Fitted mine yesterday. Only driven a few miles, and not used a lot of power yet but can definitely feel an improvement, similar to the effect of a stiffer rear arb. Hope it should also reduce the unsettled feel at the back when powering through a bumpy corner. Why did BMW discontinue fitting these as ...

Re: AC Schnitzer Springs on Adaptive (M235i)

Depends what your starting point is? What car do you have? What are you using it for, track days? Not into track days (too old!). I have a 140 with adaptive and my slight problem is that to me there is too much vertical movement on the more bumpy roads. I've had plenty of sporty cars in the past wi...

Fitting is about 3 hours labour, alignment cost varies (£60 upwards).

£130 an hour sounds expensive, there's nothing weird or unusual about 1er suspension.
Marco,do you think this is a worthwhile basic suspension mod or not?

Re: M240i LCI new alloys ?

Personally I would avoid diamond cut alloys if I could. Corrosion creeps under the lacquer and any impact damage is expensive to repair compared to painted wheels. Don't know why the cars are not offered with several no cost wheel options/colours to suit different tastes, like they offer various inte...

There's a lot more to owning a car than the sound system.
Had my 140 for 4 months now and never had it on yet! :)

Re: Strange question about tyres

I carry a motorcycle tyre plugging kit in my boot, along with a compressor. It will repair nail and screw punctures (as long as it is not in the sidewall) and will probably last for the remainder of the tyres life. Re: F21 - rusty brakes!!

One coat of Hammerite or similar will look OK for a bit but not for that long.

De-rust,clean off, good anti rust or etch primer, and then your top coat, and that should be a lasting job.
