Re: Potholes? The fightback starts here!!

Seems as tho' council gets embarrassed into action :D It;s not embarrassment, it's to do with claiming compensation. They can wriggle out if they "didn't know about the pot hole" and therefore weren't negligent. Once they've been informed (e.g. on this site) if someone then makes a claim they'll ha...

Re: Winter Tyres - not so impressive! (Added a couple of short videos)

Really? I had a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks I ran for 5 years and they never went hard... Some tyres will be better than others. Too many factors to take into account so it's a generalisation, UV exposure, temperature exposure, age, number of heat cycles (more track use though), etc etc. A winter t...

Re: Online Entertainment suddenly 'Currently not available'

Mines still working. You could try ringing the helpline, they are pretty good at letting you know whether everything is working their end. It could be after any updates it needs a few days to go through again. I know when I got my car, it took about 3 days after activation for the service to work in...

BMW's have separate brake drums & shoes (inside the top-hat section of the disc) for the handbrake, so won't cause disc lumpiness.

They're very small though, easily overcome.
Cheers, something I wasn't aware of there. Yeah would definitely not leave in "D" with handbrake on then.

Yeah i have found winters only last a couple of seasons, 3 if you're very lucky.

One of the downsides of the tyre type but just how it goes unfortunately.

Re: Noob questtion about auto box.

Thanks fror the feedback. The reasons I don't like to leave my foot on the brake is because when I was doing my IAM training I was told it was bad practice. Firstly it's inconsiderate to the driver behind (bright lights), secondly if brakes are hot, keeping pads touching discs could cause warping!?...

If it's any consolation I have Sottozero's on mine at the moment and wouldn't bother with them again next year as they slip very easily even in the dry under the power of the M140i. I don't think you've had tyres that have a defect, I think they're just not the best winters for these cars. I might s...

Re: Pops and bangs stopped?

I'd love to see the look on a BMW mechanics face when a car comes in and they say to him "have a look at this, customer says there's a fault as it's not popping and banging enough for him" :)

Re: JB+ Warranty/Issues...

The car doesn’t need any more power. I guess the car doesn't "need" any of the mods people do, but that doesn't mean people don't want to. These boxes add a nice little bit extra that's nice once people get used to the power and want that bit more. I do agree with the sentiment though, if you're wo...

Re: F20 Open Sunroof - Buffeting?

You can't really avoid buffeting at all speeds. If you open only one window it's the same, at certain speeds air is being pulled from the car which create's low pressure which then needs to come rushing back in and the cycle repeats. At certain speeds it'll hit a frequency that's really annoying. To...

Re: What Mobile Network is everyone with?

Best thing I've done move to Asda (EE) Signal and internet speed is so much better than my previous O2 reception Guess it depends on location. With my giff gaff (which is O2) I get 4G most places I go and have been getting 4G+ in certain places lately which is a bonus. My mate is on EE and doesn't ...

Re: M135i should I ask for OEM windscreen replacement?

Always seems to crack when it gets hit by something near the rear view mirror. I'm afraid this is simply physics and just an element of luck. A stone in the middle of the screen usually just chips if unlucky, but nearer to the edges and they're more prone to crack. That's why if you need to break a...

Re: I am gobsmacked by such an easy mod...

it's not pleasant to see the OP then get bombarded by someone who classes himself as an M badge expert and upgrade him even to "class 2". Bmw sticks M badges on their new cars so who are we to judge? Is BMW an M badge w&nker?? Best way around this would have been a private PM to the OP. Has the wor...

is there a way to...make the flap system fail with a sequence of mode changing? ROFL. like someone said previously. hoping for it to fail. and if so many have failed maybe it is easy to replicate ? :P
Depends what you mean by 'fail'.

Simply rattling isn't actually failing.

PS is there alternative to Imgur? As soon as I post anything to share here I get a load of fallic-like people posting idiotic comments and down voting and the like. Don't bother me really, just more of an annoyance  Just set your pictures to private, then it doesn't go onto their page etc. You...
