Re: No More Manual M140 M240 from JULY 2018

Fact is manual transmission is an out dated technology. I think people love manuals for nostalgia. I get people want to select the gears (I do) and the ZF does that better than any traditional manual. This is a great discussion. Feel free to disagree. Paul Paul I think everyone is entitled to their...

Re: Wriggle under braking

If you know you're going to brake hard with some lock already on it's a good idea to apply a bell shape curve to the braking pressure. In other words try and initially apply progressive pressure to minimise longitudinal weight transfer and stabilise the rear prior to applying full pressure. Reverse ...

Re: Post your M140i deals here

I think that Jamie wanted to express the baseline of his deal, ie without ANY extras. To do that he purposely separated the options that he retrospectively decided to add. Which makes a lot of sense. I find the use of the word "deposit" quite ironic for a PCP deal anyway. To really know what the bes...

Re: Lease or PCP deals

Good shout on TRL. Unless you are a sole trader putting it through the business is not really fiscally great as it becomes a company car.

Re: Lease or PCP deals

Those cars have good residuals when bought at the max discount so I wouldn't rule out third party finance given how low the interest rates are.

Re: New brakes discs?

20k left, wow, you're changing them pretty early! I checked mine at 0 and they were still fine for another few 000's. Haha but looking at the pads in the pics I wouldn't say there's 20k left on them lol.. Good old iDrive accuracy.. Idrive is pretty accurate considering it's guessing - it's always g...

Re: New brakes discs?

I was on the verge of buying a Z4M coupe from Sytner Coventry and was dealing with them from a long way away. I was obviously concerned with condition, history and consumables on the car. I asked a few times for the AUC report and was always given excuses. I was later sent this. Notice the very dod...

Those pads look like they have quite a few road miles left in them, probably 5k ?

Re: Post your M140i deals here

This must be so damaging for residuals!!! Not if you buy at the max discount - actually, even if you don't. Only a minority of people don't finance and within them only a minority get the max discount so actually, this is superb news for residuals. The majority of the cars stay within the network a...

Re: Insurance Premiums

Just run an account with Confused or another aggregator to keep on top of the market. It takes 3mn every year to buy with whoever is cheapest that day. Loyalty doesn't pay and calling the renewal line takes much more time than a few clicks.

Re: The Overtaking Flash

Maybe it has to do with the way you overtake, as in if you drop it down a gear and give it some (especially if you have an exhaust). Opposed to just cruising past (doable but takes longer). Fcuks me off when people don't indicate! Problem is if you indicate that gives morons even more of a chance t...

Re: What are they like in the wet?

The chassis is set up to understeer. It even push understeers on a light throttle. Obviously if the driver can't understand the difference between lat grip and traction and insists on using the throttle as an on-off switch, then 4wd might be a better option. It really doesn't take much skill to appr...

Re: April 2017 VED Rates Sting

Cayman boot size is pretty good when you add both, particularly for a 2-seater.

I think you can take out the OTR costs from the figure HMRC will retain so that leaves a little room for options. Not sure though as guy at OPC didn't even know about the VED change or pretended not to.

Re: Square setup = TWITCHY AS A TWITCHY THING

The Uniroyals have a very high void ratio, in other words you've gone from a wider contact patch at the rear to a smaller one, which has probably made your car neutral on turn in but quite unbalanced under power - stick some MPSS at the rear.
