Re: New owner asking for advice on brakes

Genuine (Textar) M135i are 2 piece discs, with an alloy top-hat to help keep the weight down.

Cheap knock-offs like Zimmerman's are one piece cast iron, and pretty weighty.

sorry to revive dead thread.
Hoping to get some winter wheels and tyres soon.
Seen some X1 steels for sale near me with 225/50/17s on good tread. any idea if they would fit?
yup, should do.

The correct tyre size should be 225/45/17, so watch those speed cameras!

How easy was the forge cooler to fit? Had one on my last car and the fit and instructions are faultless. You tell tell the money into R&d and fit is spot on

The rears really don't fit nicely, I wouldn't bother.

Re: New owner asking for advice on brakes

Front discs, callipers and pads bolt straight up (assuming you have 18" wheels), use standard 123d wear-sensor and brake flexi's.

I swapped to GY Asym 3 specifically to improve the NVH, could be worth considering a different set of boots next time if it will improve your enjoyment?

Re: Tyre Selection.....What would you choose?

It's hard to add comfort without compromising how direct the turn-in feels, there's always a bit of a pay-off. I'm happy with my Asym 3's, not sure I'd want to go more wobbly (Rainsports) though. I'm probably going to try MPS4 next (maybe even Cup 2's), as MPS4-S are not currently available in our 1...

Wherever is cheapest, just make sure they can update the electronic iDrive service history.

Are you swapping all 4 at the same time, for a nice new matched set?

Re: M140 - Lower back pain from seats

I’ve had my 140 for 7 months now and specced lumbar and have no back pain even though I cant ever get what feels like the right seat position for me height and leg length wise. However on all the other cars Ive had Ive always had back pain. How far is your wheel pulled out of the dash? If it's all ...

Re: TPMS - what happens if you don't?

TPMS system is more than happy at +40°C / +10 psi over the set value, from personal experience. It doesn't like soft tyres though, I think the lower cut-off is roughly 29 psi. If you don't fit the TPMS sensors you'll get a few beeps and bongs, an error message, but that's about it. Personally I like...
