Re: Cheap short antenna replacement.

Good to know, Mt Fix.
We don't seem to get any reports on the reception of these stubbies.
Good price too!

Re: Steering

The only things I can think of that would cause this heavy steering problem are.. Under inflated tyres. Non standard front tyres (larger than 225 x 40 x 18.) Steering geometry way out!.. Most likely! Brakes rubbing. Front tyres rubbing on suspension. Power steering pump not functioning (belt slippin...

Re: Eyebrows yay or nay

I like them.. YAY!! Particularly the one shown with the clear slot. They are easy to fit and can be easily removed if not liked. Look the goods and are a relatively cheap face-lift. They give a different look when parked beside similar cars of same model. Only disadvantage ...Very hard to get all bu...

Re: Engine knock from cold start

Sounds like a one directional (free-wheel) pulley on the alternator. You will have a lot of trouble convincing anyone that that is the problem as it's very hard to define. The mechanical want to replace the tensioner pulley, however, the trouble IMHO lies in the alt pulley Here is a photo of the Alt...

Re: Vibration noise help!!!!

Could be something trivial, such as, a biro or plastic object touching the dash fan. Run the ventilation fan at different speeds and check if a different vibration noise.

Ps.. In other query above you are checking the plastic cam cover, in engine bay.

Re: My baby bmw - 116d

Thanks for the rundown on the auto-boot mod. What upholstery /trim tool do you use for Parrot installation and other work? Prying off those panel scares me and I'm three times your age! I maintain that you should work in a "wreckers" for a year, before you are confident to remove some of that uphols...

Re: Rear brake disk issue.

Perhaps, the disk pads press further back into the carrier, to allow disk pads to fit over the disc. Can't imagine them not being suitable. 10 mm is a lot of extra thickness for disks. I presume they are hollow ventilated disks, Someone on this forum will know the answer! Appreciate your frustration...

Thanks for posting.

Re: Anyone experienced this? Heater core????

That smoke from your bonnet may be burnt oil where oil is dripping from your engine onto the exhaust manifold. Oil mist can look like steam!

Check water temp regularly and don't overfill coolant header tank... just the correct level.

Re: E87 tyre rubbing

Yes, I must admit I was completely incorrect about the ET of a 3 series wheel. My loss in translation was the term "wheel arch" and "wheel fender/guard". The Wheel Arch I see as the space above the tyre on a correctly mounted wheel tyre. The Wheel Fender/ Guard, I think of the part that is where you...

Re: E87 tyre rubbing

Back to the 1st hole for a minute.. Marco, thanks for clueing me up regarding Et and spacers.. I do see that any spacers would make the 3 series wheels worse on a 1 series. I having a problem visualising how a 225 x40 x18 wheel/tyre combo would rub on the arch , wouldn't it rub on the part of the in...

Re: E87 tyre rubbing

I would have thought that, spacers could be purchased to allow a greater ET for the 3 series wheels to fit the E87 ?
I know the 225 tyres x18 fit the 1ers without hitting the inside of the arch and do not exceed external alignment.
