I've emailed quaife to see what they say. I'm still worried that it's going to turn out that I have an open diff and all this time I've been wrong ha ha. Last time I was at Bedford it was wet and I was powersliding out of that corner (I got told off by the Marshall) I assume I can get stiffer springs. I've never adjusted the rear shocks. Dad did say that he thought my rear looked a bit bouncy. Maybe the shocks are shot.

Right. Fuckit. I've bought a £10 endoscope. Time to go in through the fluid port.

Interesting...I've often thought I need one of them, but I have not found an excuse to buy one and I've never seen them for £10!

Unless there are large lumps of mangled gears in the bottom of the casing, which is very unlikely, I wonder what you will see. Good luck.

Have a close look at your shocks while you are under there.

If I undo the bottom of the shock should I be able to compress it?

Aha - so you were serious that you are not sure that it's a Quaife! Good luck! I'd be really surprised to learn that your car doesn't have a proper diff.

Most tired shocks leak oil and it's often obvious. I've had a gas shock that lost pressure. I had to compare its action to confirm that it was not good though. The car started pitching, so I suspected it was duff, but it was not oily...

Right.
it's _definitely_ a Quaife.
the endoscope was a complete waste of time. but the tiny little torch on it meant I could see the pinion gears inside the diff like
Image
so I'm just left with too think an ARB on the back :(
or the shocks are setup wrong.
or something else.
I _REALLY_ don't want to have to swap the rear ARB. it's a massive ballache

Excellent news!

So, as this is a new phenomenon, it's unlikely to be the ARB...right? If your dad said that he thought it was a tad bouncy, I think you've got a dying shock. Did you see any oil misting on the shocks?

The ARBs have only been on since after last time at bedford.
I'll check the shocks.

Don't mess with the rear ARB, fitter a stiffer one on the front instead. E93 M3 would probably do.

26.5mm to 28mm adds about 20% stiffness, believe it or not.

You could probably buy one 2nd hand, then re-sell your E90 M3 bar, net cost = zero?

Aha! OK, +1 to Marco :)

I still think that, given your dad's comment, I'd look carefully at the shocks...& maybe play with the settings.

A wet PDC Module is incredibly common, is it still working? Always mount it as high as humanly possible.
