New Shocks Chirping

Post by Fredster » Sat Aug 12, 2017 8:54 am

Hi,

I've had 2 new Sachs shock absorbers fitted to the front of my car. All is well.... other than over medium/high bumps they let off a small, yet annoying chirp.

No bangs or anything and I truly believe its the shock absorbers themselves.

Has anybody had this before?

Even better, is there a fix?

Thanks

Does it sound like damper oil quickly being forced through a high-speed damper valve?

Possibly yeah.

But the shocks are Sachs (Boge/ZF), so the same as who makes the OEM ones and they didn't make a sound :?

Did you 're tighten the control arms at ride height?

Thanks for the replies.

After a really long drive and lots of time to concentrate on whats happening, its one side that is considerably worse than the other.

It might even have got worse. Over repeating small bumps in the road you get a lot of "shhhh sh shhh shh sh sh shhh"

The side that's doing it, is the side I did and I didn't undo the control arms to do it. They did on the other side, which looking back, is probably the easier way.

Could this be a faulty shock? Or is that so rare from a reputable brand, that its probably something else.
