A search for e81 limited edition shows diesels, 4 pots, 6 pots, different upholsteries.. xenon seems to be on all of them though? Maybe in the UK they are all the same though?
The LE in the UK are all the same. 160 identical cars.
2007 130i LE - BMWP Exhaust, Strut Brace, Air Filter, Short Shift kit and Handbrake.
B12 KIT with M3 LCA and TS.
Plus Cruise Control, Digital Speedo, CDV Delete, Camber Pin Mod, OEM LED Numberplate Lights, Brighter Non-dimming OEM Angel Eyes.

I think Limited Edition 'LE' was only for the 130i, Limited Sport Edition was a well spec'd M Sport E81 with various engines.

I can't believe that you couldn't buy options like cruise control and heated seats on a Ltd Edition model.

Was it not intended to be the 3door range topper? It wasn't a run-out model, so what was it?

...strictly speaking it was the run-in model, the BMW UK press packs called it the launch edition, being introduced at the launch of the three door. I think it was to get 3 door 130's out to dealerships and generate interest, the 3 door is what got me into in the 130 and I went to see a couple of LE's at local showrooms.

Aha, that makes sense.

I do question whether they aought to be commanding much of a premium over any other high spec 3 door car. They do look a bit different, I think the chrome strips set them off nicely in our chromeless world.

I think they fetch the premium as similar spec cars are hard to find. Yes they're missing cruise control and heated seats which is a shame, but very few cars got the options the LE has as standard. Plus the colour combo is unique and the wheels look great too, and you know they are only 160 of them!

For me, the nav, stereo, xenon lights, and the lemon leather interior make the car feel premium and expensive, compared with a basic spec car for example. World's apart. The interior is too loud at first but after you've got in it a couple of times, anything else is dull. Black leather now seems boring. The lemon sets it on fire for me.

When you consider retrofitting all the mod cons these days - standard cars fetch 4-5k all day long, meaning that you can soon eat into that 'premium' and got the LE in the first place. Certainly if you're after a car with the right bits anyway.

As someone else has said the E81 130i is even rarer, especially with the options. The LE was basically a couple of grand over list price which made it very attractive if you were looking for a 3 door which is why I think very few E81's actually sold. As soon as you'd added leather interior and xenon headlights you might as well have just got the LE.

Plus I think the coupe looks better than the hatch and for not a lot more again you could get a 135. Another reason why I don't think many sold.

So all in all they are as we know, rare cars.

Think I might be on my own when I think the E81 is much better proportioned than the coupe!

0l0dom0l0 - all good points. My 130i has more bells and whistles than my 135i, but neither has idrive or xenons and the 130i has a business HU, which is not as good as the professional in my coupe.

Jack@AUTOID - I used to think the coupe looked gorky. When they came out I didn't like them, and they grew on me. I still think it's the best looking BMW of the last decade...perhaps with the exception of the 1M!

I used to actually dislike the hatchback and I think the doors on the 5 door cars look too small...actually, when I climbed into the back of a colleague's car, I decided that they are too small! I like the hatchback now...and I'm trying hard to like it more than the coupe, because I think I've pursuaded myself to sell the coupe and keep the hatchback.

All I need is folding mirrors and heated seats and my LE is about there. Mine is just turned 100k and still feels tight.
My brother bought a stupidly low mileage E46 325ci recently and has no end of aggro with it not being driven.
130iLE - CIC retrofit – CDV delete – LED Angel Eyes – Cruise Control retrofit

What did you need to do for the CIC retrofit ?

Hi I am new to this but saw the post about the 130i LE. I own (my wife's car) a low mileage LE (53,900 miles). The car is completely original with full main dealer BMW history from new. I still have the car on an extended BMW warrany. We have owned the car for the last 3 years. The car is in absolutely fantastic condition with unmarked alloy wheels. I'm not currently looking to sell, however I may well be in approx 12 months. The covers approx 5 to 6k per year so will still be under 60k this time next year.

Hello and welcome

Now that you've joined this forum, I'm sure you won't have to pay to advertise your 130i when you decide to sell it!

I don't think it's mileage will be going up today or tomorrow (depending on where you live). I don't think either or my BMWs would get out of our driveway! A Landrover just went by towing a snow-boarder!

I would definitely be interested in buying this car. My deadline is March next year though, as that’s when my current car on PCP goes back. Let me know if you want to release it sooner as I can pay in cash.
