Carly new catalyst regeneration function

Post by nick-yeah » Fri Mar 09, 2018 7:40 pm

Not sure if this has been covered here recently (I haven't been active for a while); Carly recently released a new add-on function to request NOX catalyst regeneration.

Thought I'd say that I used it recently and it worked well! I do mostly city driving and have done 'Italian tuneups' on the motorway previously to clear NOX/Lambda fault codes.

This method lets you see what the state of the cat is and request a regeneration without the need to rev in lower gears. I just drove at 70mph in sixth gear for 30 minutes and it made a significant difference:

I can't find any reference to ideal/normal sulphur mass levels but all related fault codes have now cleared and performance has been improved.

This is on iOS, not sure if its available on Android yet.

Yes, 0030EA. All clear now and an easy way to see what the current state of the cat is and keep on top of it.

Can't you brick your OBC with things like Carly?

It wouldn't surprise me with cheap adapters and software. My understanding and experience is that Carly is decent and reliable, so long as you purchase their own adapters. Many folks have purchased identical, cheaper versions, but I wouldn't say its worth the risk.

I haven't seen anyone brick their cars with Carly on here, but could be wrong. I have no concerns using it.
