Is it sorted? Had you tilted then forwards? I'm struggling to understand what the problem is.
Sorry yeah it's when I've tilted the seat forward to get access to rear seats. They won't go back into place. So it's the manual element rather than electrics/motor. I will give it a good shove when I am back home tonight.
Ah OK, yes just pull them back, no need to use the little handle on the shoulder of the seat.

They unclick/unlock with a little force.
Gotcha. Is the handle just for moving forwards then?

How did you find radio reception? I cannot pick up MW at all.

Yes, just to release the seat forwards.

Never really listened to MW so never a problem for me. I have the original ariel if you want it.

Thanks for that - I can PayPal some cash across.

I do prefer the stubby though and had one before. Might try another one to see if there's a difference.

Loving the car though, condition is a credit to you.

PM me your address and I'll stick it in the post. I also have a lot of touch up paint you can have.

Hi all. Don't want to start new threads for every question I have so for all the "bits and pieces" I'll continue to post here and if people see it then great!

What is the deal with connecting my iPhone? It's a 7 if that matters. The lightning cable charges it which is great but doesn't allow me to play through iDrive. The aux cable allows me to play music without charging but sound quality is iffy.

I've seen reference to a "Y cable" which appears to plug into both ports in the car but it also has two cables the other end and on the 7 there is only one connection (lightning). Want to get opinions before I order one. And incidentally if it does work just via the aux then I won't bother as I can do that anyway. I want to control the iPhone via the iDrive.

Thanks.

When I changed mine to a stubby I bought the genuine BMW sports aerial and have had no issues. Reception is as good as the standard aerial was. It cost about £22 but well worth it. Some people have used the Citroen one at about £7 or £8 and then had reception problems in certain areas of the country. We spend hundreds of pounds, if not thousands on our cars so an extra £15 is surely worth it for the genuine one :)

100% agree and I've found the one you are referring to.

However it would be good to know first that the one I have is NOT already the genuine one. Jiggaman do you know?

If it is I'll try the full size one and see how it looks.

Thanks.

I think it was a Citroën one of eBay.

Ah that's cool, probably worth trying the BMW one then.

You are further down the road than me ! I am planning to change from a 3.0si m Sport roadster manual to a manual 130i. How do you find it compares. From my test drives I find the 130i feels not quite as quick as the Z4 and far far quieter. 130i has a nicer gear change. I need more seats now my little ones are getting bigger but worried I'm gonna be a little disappointed with it?

Hi.

I am maybe not best placed to comment on the finer points just yet having owned the 130i for 250 miles or so but my first impressions on your points...

Genuinely not sure which is/feels faster yet. What I can say is that in 'normal' driving the 130i picks up in high gear/low revs just as nicely as the Z4. For the way I drive this is what is most important to me, it just feels so flexible.

130i definitely has a nicer gear change but in fairness mine has the short shift and what I think is a 'ZHP' knob. Happy to be corrected. These two things almost certainly factor heavily into it.

In terms of the sound it is a strange one. My car has the BMWP intake and exhaust which I feel gives it a throatier start-up and better sound at low revs. What I feel it misses (although cannot comment for sure just yet) is the change in tone the Z4 had through the rev range. Mine was standard and the sound used to kind of step up a notch at two points in the revs going from normal to a howl to a scream. I used to love that. Not sure this has it.

In terms of whether you will be disappointed or not that is a personal thing of course but I can say that I certainly am not. My car is well set up with good tyres, etc and this definitely makes it feel better planted and nicer handling than the Z4. I also love the fact that most people will think it is just a 1 series.

Ultimately, if you have resigned yourself to getting 4 seats it comes down to not whether it is better than the Z4 but whether it is better than your 4 seat alternatives! I would suggest it is! :D

You've summed up the sound very well there. The Z4 sound does change I haven't been aware of the 130i doing so on short test drives but they have both been standard. Z4 sound generator cabin intake probably accounts for that. I think the Z4 sport button makes it feel faster where as it probably makes little actual difference.
I'm debating whether to go 135i as I don't want to be left feeling like it's a slight step backwards in enjoyment and interaction. Although I would welcome less cabin wind noise and the improved gear change. Thanks for your views and good luck with the motor.

Good point, mine did have the sound generator mod which would have added to the sound - not sure if there is a similar thing to do on the 130?

I imagine the 135 is a cracking car. There's just something about a big, powerful engine in a small car!

That's a nice looking car, seems like it's had quite a few mods so I'd be surprised if it's not been a forum members at some point. Like Twenny says, if the bodywork's as rough as seems to look in a couple of the shots you're going to want a chunk off the asking price.
