Low mileage, unrecorded 2008 135i at Copart YK58PYV

This cheap, high spec, very low mileage 135i is for sale through Copart at auction tomorrow. It is not on the HPI register, it seems to have done only about 6000 miles in the last 7 years and the MOT expired in the Autumn of last year. The bodywork has quite a few bumps and scrapes, the engine covers are missing and the dash is lit up.

If it's bought from Copart at trade by someone who wants a bargain, fine, the buyer knows he or she will have to spend some money to get it right. However it's highly likely that this will be retailed at a premium with refurbed wheels, tidied bodywork and paint, looking spotless!

It will be an unknown quantity and probably one to avoid!

It's an interesting one. It was on a private plate withing its first three years and it appears to have been in London since then and perhaps rarely used. The MOT expired last September.

The damage and poor paint matches are just neglect and cheap bodges. The missing engine covers and glove box are interesting. Most traders and dealers flog older tatty cars through the auctions, but problem cars are frequentlysold through the salvage auctions now as there is zero liability for the quality and condition of the car.

I suspect that this car has some significant problems, or it would have been lashed up, polished and retailed - it's a high spec, very low mileage car. On the other hand, it might be the bargain of the year!

Id say its been in a smash, and the airbags deployed - owner had to exchange Dash and did it on the cheap and lost the glovebox along the way....

be worth it for the running gear, seats and some body panels - scrap the rest. anything up to £4k is worth it... above that its not worth the sum of its parts.

It would be worth a fair bit in bits - a bare low mileage N54 engine would fetch £2500 and you'd get £800 for the turbos. The seats and cards would go for over £500 too. But, it's not on the register, so a new n/s wing and £1000 in the hand of a good bodyshop, wheel refurb, a few s/h bits of plastic and that car will sell for £10,000! ...or £8000 without a FSH.

I bet we see it in the classified ads soon...or maybe a in the hands of a new forum member.

At £4000, I'd buy it to flip!

Who's going to watch the bidding so we know what it goes for? I'm just curious in case we see it again like on AT or ebay or even here!

Unfortunately Copart isn't like ebay you can't have a watch list and then check back later to see where the bidding ended

Also its got a reserve so if that's not reached then the seller will either offer it to the highest bidder or put it through again at the next auction

Go for it I bet it won't get that far too scary for most

You need to get your Copart membership sorted out 1st thing and then you'll be able to bid

For something with 40k miles on you're upto £12k on AT

I agree that it's a scary bet, but isn't that what makes Copart and ASM/Motorhog much more fun than online casinos! ...and unlike ebay, there are still some genuine bargains to be had.

I just looked at the additional info and it states that HPI says that it's had 8 previous owners! I think that makes it an £8k car in this country, however, it'll probably go to Poland.

Shame it's an auto.

Would have made a good track car.

£4200, but on approval. UK bidder (not me!)
No not me either

I did watch the bidding only coz I'm stuck home the rain has stopped all my outside jobs today so its forced me indoors to do my annual accounts

But of course I get bored and find myself straying onto Copart! Luckily I couldn't bid anyway as my Copart membership has run out and I haven't renewed it

So at £4150 who here would have bought it? You never know it might be back on next week as its not got the reserve

Haha, sounds just like me - I wonder how many hours I've wasted exploring these auctions! It is a form of gambling addiction, I'm sure.

I think that at £4150 plus hammer, that was probably a bargain. I didn't bid because I suddenly (& quite unusually) had a wave of common sense roll over me - I have at least 2, too many project cars in the driveway and a kit car and 2 old Yamahas in the garage too...

Hehe yes I have that Copart itch as well! Have flipped a few Copart cars in the past - Cat U (ex motability) or Cat D with light body work damage

Not done one for a while though - never really made any money doing it - it was more just an opportunity to own + drive something a bit different for a while and not pay over the odds for it

For anything a bit exotic I'd be visiting the Copart site to look at the car - you can by appointment and they'll start it for you but not drive it

Great that you posted it though - I'll be looking a bit more often on there now just coz I can't help myself!

They do a good job but what gets to Copart is generally what's left from the insurance companies that traders who have relationships with them don't want

Great you posted it though - I'll be looking on there a bit more often just coz i can't help myself!
