We have had a few customers bring there car to us as bmw wanted to change everything and the cost was more than the car was worth

As the customers could not afford the repairs at bmw we only changed to HPFP and cleaned to system out and they have been fine for many years

So I would recommend fitting a HPFP 1st clean the system out and see how it goes

If you can get it down to west London we can do the work

This makes absolute sense to me. After all, there is a fuel filter that ought to catch any stray particulates.

Can the HPFP be changed without pulling the engine out? Have your clients escaped without changing the injectors too?

Yes with the engine still fitted
So far we have only needed to fit 1 set of injectors

Thanks for all the replies. I've decided to let the car go, I've seen just how much swarf is in the fuel tank, and it's evident in the injectors too. The tank would definitely need replacing as there's too much in there to drain. I was planning to sell the car next year anyway, and I've been offered £2250 for the car as it is. I reckon I'd probably be lucky to sell it for £5k if it was running. It's an 57 plate with 107k miles on the clock.
