Post by R5_RXK » Tue Jan 09, 2018 9:40 pm

Apologies if it been covered,

if the clock keeps resetting is it likely to be dodgy battery or could it be something else? usually does it couple times a week Id say now,

Cheers

Dodgy/flat battery only.

The ECU is turning off non-essential circuits in an attempt to save the tiny bit of charge left, so you can (hopefully) start the car for the next journey.

You'll probably find the heated rear screen demister is a bit crap currently, too.

cheers Marco, :starwars: . Any recommendations where I can get a decent replacement other than main dealer, it'll need coding?

Definitely not Dealer, wherever is cheapest for the correct battery for your car basically.

Yes, the car will need coding.

Eurocarparts? 35% off at min, you will need AGM Battery if car has stop/start. Any garage really can pair it to car.

Also forgot to mention car never has problems starting it’s just the annoying low heater speed issue , clock resetting and battery displayed icon if I leave on the radio and turn the engine off.

Your battery is dead!!! Buy new one. The car starts good cause he is saving power from other functions like all those thing you wrote. It will start good one year minimum, but setting clock every time is very annoying. Mine was starting good to the end, but every thing stop working.

As above, battery is on it's way out, the car is even telling you this with the battery icon.

Who checked the battery? If it was just someone with a standard voltmeter then they wont have a clue without doing additional testing (watching voltage during cranking is a basic test with a voltmeter).

A voltmeter will show when you have completely dead cells as you lose around 2.1 volts per cell. But sometimes a duff battery can still appear to have a working voltage but as soon as the car cranks it plummets to nothing or as you're finding, a small draw with the engine off will drop the voltage and light the battery icon.

Don' use Halfords - they rarely honour their battery warranties.

Euro Car Parts - buy online & use the discount code - click and collect. If you just go to one of their depots, you won't get the discount.
