My 1st BMW, Business CD no USB?

Post by Naz0s » Sun Jan 14, 2018 10:43 am

Hello,
I've just bought a used BMW E87 2010. This is my 1st BMW and Im coming from a Honda Civic Hatchback 1996.
Everything looks amazing inside and outside, if you take in mind that almost the only buttons I had in my Civic was the windows buttons

I noticed 2 issues though:
* The seatbelt/airbag sensor is on. How much does it costs roughly to be fixed? Does it needs a new sensor or just removal of the code?
* There is no USB? I used to plug in my Memory Stick with tons of music for every kind of mood. Some of you understand what I mean :D
I thought that I could use my iPod and the AUX port, but then im gonna lose the func. Keys on the steering wheel. I was searching on the internet last night and I found the the Business CD does not support a USB, so I have to upgrade to a Professional one. Is it really that easy? plug and play? I found that when the car needs coding it asks for the original one. Is there any way if I buy a professional one to make it permanent ?
Any other cheaper solution? at least temporary ? until I get a Pro.

Anything you could suggest me as a new BMW owner?

Hello and welcome to the forum

I've just changed from a 1 series coupe to a 1 series hatchback and sadly my new car doesn't have a USB input either. The other thing I miss is Bluetooth, so I've been thinking that a new after-market head unit might be the solution.

There are many gurus here, so I await their reponses too!

Thanks for your welcoming messages. I really appreciate it.
For sure, I'll keep checking this post for an expert to respond. Im searching on the internet for days now and I havent really end up somewhere.
I even call BMW and they told me to take the car in for a check up including the Professional HU. It will cost 85 EUR for the checkup and if my car supports it, I will be charged extra labor fees. That's a bit... :jawdrop: if you add the 250 HU cost.

I don't think USB (and Bluetooth) are linked to the choice of HU, but to whether you have a MULF under the boot floor?

Later model pro head units have the Bluetooth and usb functionality built in. Much easier to retrofit if you get the right headunit with the features already coded from factory!
