BMW Performance front bumper - provided by M Style

Post by Webarno » Sun Jan 21, 2018 11:14 pm

Hi all,

I REALLY want the BMW Performace Aero front bumper as I think it’s gives a more unique appearance, and aesthetically I prefer it over the M Sport bumper.

I’ve seen that M Style sell it painted and fitted for about £720, but what are they like as a company to deal with?
I don’t live far from them so the option to take my car there and let them do it all is very tempting.

Anyone had any work carried out by those guys?

Thanks.

from the posts on this forum, they are pretty woeful.

similar stories from other BMW boards as well. non-existent customer service, selling stuff they dont actually have

I have bought direct from BMW for £320. Better to do that and find a different garage to spray and fit.

M Style are woeful. Myself and a few friends have been there in the past.

I’d swerve M Style 100% buddy.

Yep Cotswolds Full aero kit including all clips and vents and screws for £420 plus I know an excellent spray shop in Sidcup that would charge approx £300 for spray and fit.

I paid £220 on eBay for just the spoiler. Fitting kit £130ish from Cotswolds
Sprayed bumper £200

Fitted it all myself so total cost was £550.

* If you want the double air vents (4 in total) its an extra £150

I’ve got part numbers for all this if you want them, although some come with and without front PDC etc etc so numbers could be different.

* Edit - haven’t got part numbers anymore. Sorry.

If you’re 100% committed and you want to order the aero kit from Cotswolds, what’s app me first and I’ll give you heads up on a few things you’ll need to know bro.

Mine was £319.20 for the front bumper with everything needed to install and delivery.

Spoke to Stuart Murray. Search him on Facebook, works at BMW in Edinburgh i believe.

Thanks a lot for all the info both, massively helpful!

Definitely something for me to consider and I think it is the next task I want to get done.

Expensive but definitely worth it. Especially with the performance side skirts.

Can’t wait to get it on my LE! Should set it apart whilst sticking to a classic BMW look.

What tips do you have for fitting?
Tips -

1. Jack up both sides of the car.
2. Blanket underneath when fitting new bumper
3. Don’t do it on your own.
4. Take pictures once the old bumper is off because if you wish to remove and resell later then returning back to standard those photos will be invaluable. Note - when you remove the old air ducts it will leave a hole in your wheel arch - unless you’re doing the full aero conversion which for £420 I don’t think you will be bud.
Image - I just filled mine in lol.
5. Be patient - took me 2 hours to fit mine first time.
6. Remove the fog light lamps and tie up the plugs so they don’t vibrate on wheel arches - you’ll need to code out voltage monitoring for those once you’re done.
7. Enjoy it lol

Here’s the guide I followed - http://www.1addicts.com/forums/attachme ... 1218580605

Good luck with page 18 of this guide - it’s for SE cars so it’ll be good to see how you get on lol

I'm guessing that price doesn't include the little carbon splitters?

I'd like a set of these but last time I checked (admittedly about 4yrs ago) they were very expensive.

The bumper seems quite rare, so no aftermarket available as far as I know?

FML Joe, you mean the carbon splitters that are £250 each?

Dunno, could be. You never know.

Other than the 1M replica bumper, I think there are a couple of body kits you can get (can’t remember the name of the manufacturers) It’s a 10 year old car so can’t see anything mass produced being done now.
