Weight distribution

Post by fmn716 » Mon Apr 02, 2018 12:18 am

Hi guys.

Could you maybe give me your opinions here

So I have a e87 with a Toyota 1uz V8 swap.

This engine sits much closer to the cabin than an in-line 6 motors. It’s positions is similar to the n46.

So if I had to compare this engine to a n52 would the weight distribution be better as it sits further back ?

My 1uz engines weighs in at 165kg and the n52 is about 148kg and sits further forward.

So interms of weight distribution which one is better ?

Thanks

Yours sounds better to me, further back the better.

A 1-series with a Toyota non-turbo Engine? What an interesting build.
More powerful BMW engines are readily available and pretty cheap tbh, which should prove to be easier to deal with? Why drop in 1UZ V8 of all things?

I am intrigued.

Well to be honest here in South Africa BMW engines are quite pricey and my car was a 120i that broke so the previous owner did this swap. not running 100% but this car is begging for a supercharger.

V8 is really nice lots of low down torque and I also plan on adding a 100shot of NOS :P
