Gear Changing

Post by RLacey » Thu May 17, 2018 11:44 am

Hello,

I have a slight issue which is bugging me, sometimes when im sitting in traffic its really hard to put in 1st gear (sometimes makes sort of a crunch sound) and also 1st to 2nd is not smooth at all making sort of a crunch sound to and then the higher gears are fine i think.

Double clutching 1st to 2nd gets rid of the noise and if i delay the change to about a second its fine, clutch delay valve?

Had my clutch, flywheel and oil changed so any info would be appreciated.

2008 135i e82

Thanks

If your clutch is new, and the clutch lines correctly bled (?), your 1st - 2nd synchro has probably worn out.

Was it like that before the clutch change?

Assuming this is a new problem, I'd take it back to the garage and get them to investigate it. If you want to DIY, I'd check it's 100% properly bled first.

For the cost/time it would be worth removing the CDV and re-bleeding, just to rule it out. Worth a shot...

Same as my 130i. Try turning the whith bush the gear stick sits in (fulcrum - under the gaitor)..also add some lube to it.
