The 135i backbox pipe is bigger than the 130 exhaust pipe so will need some decent welding to make it fit perfect.

And yes it’ll make a nice deep grumble and no drone.

I see, so I assume most people have the 130i mid mated up to the 135i bbox by an exhaust place. Do you happen to know the difference in pipe diameter?

Sadly not no, sorry. But this was my thread below before I got the 135i performance backbox added a while later which made an even better sound -

Can’t upload videos to this forum anymore which is annoying.

Here’s a cold start - https://youtu.be/T3tKNA8Sxwk

If you search my YT channel there’s a few vids I’ve just added

Does sound great, thanks for uploading these. Were they all with these with the resonator delete too?

This sounds brilliant:

All I’ve done is add a standard 135i backbox and then later a 135i performance backbox, no resonator delete as wasn’t sure of drone. I’m tempted but happy with what I have so o think I’ll leave it as is.

I believe OoDomoO has had the BMWP 130i backbox and res delete and I’m pretty sure he’s very happy with the results.

Sounds good enough as it is to me. I don't really want it to drone, I drive back and forth to Germany every few months and that could be a right pain in the backside. My old S14a had a big old fart can on it and whilst it was great fun it did become tedious, wouldn't want to have something like that on a daily.

In this vid it sounds really good considering it is just the backbox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAm66QFMT6w

I finally got this done. It is awesome! Custom Y pipe made up to replace mid section and standard 135i backbox modded to fit by local company.

No drone, subtle at low revs and raspy and loud under load, and poppy and burbly on overrun

couldn't be happier.

I've had the Y pipe done but still on the 130i exhaust. On the look out for a 135i backbox now.

Well done mate! :D
I think it's the best setup :) I can't thank enough holland130i for the idea.

If you are around 3000rpm and you release throttle, you will have nice "burble", or while you are around 3000rpm and just pressing veeeery gently the throttle like small pulsations, you will get also that "pop and crackles"  .
And then, just this you mention: quiet at low rpm, and 6L BMW great sound when you apply good throttle or you're in high revs.

Stock rear muffler off an N55 135i on my 130i - no golf tee mod. Note, my online researchs suggests the N54 and N55 mufflers are different inside the back box.

Looks like the cold start opens up the valve, so ought to sound like a golf t mod?

That's correct.
N55 mufflers sound a little bit better :)
