It has an eject button for anyone that winds down the window or fiddles with the climate control. Do it and die

Yeah but you do have "dual" climate control ... So surely you have yours at 20 deg and The Giant has his at the temperature of his choice ..... I would think that's the fairest way of doing things :escape:

:nono: the rules are: no eating, burping, farting, drinking (other than bottled water), winding down windows (unless there's a bug), fiddling with temps and air grilles, changing music, etc.

I generally drive alone or am passenger in the Giant's car if we must travel together.

:nono: that would slow me down, kill my fuel economy even more and then I'd be wishing I had a diesel again

Has anyone looked at the Ad that Toed64 pointed out?

What is likely to be wrong with the engine? Is there a vunerable O ring on the 130i?

Excuse me if this has already been flagged...perhaps it belongs to a forum member. Anyway, it might be possible to build a nice, very cheap 130i from this:

I have not heard of a weak O-ring. However, if the motor is toast, you can buy good used ones for under £1000.

That link corrupted, try this:

2010 E82 N55 135i, Forge ic, charge pipe, AFE induction kit, JB4
Avon non-rf, M3 LCAs & ARBs, Whiteline bush inserts, Brembo Sport pads
CDV delete, Storm Motorwerks knob

I would be scared to even walk past your car. Just a tad too fussy

It all counts.....as well as better fuel economy. Such a slow change you have to write a letter to the gearbox to let it know to change!!

1st gear there's a little lag (and the more I get used to tempering the throttle at just the right point the less lag there is). The rest of the gear changes there's no issue. In sports mode it's extremely responsive. Unless you change gear lightning fast I can't see an issue. Inability to adapt between the two may reveal more about the drivers shortcomings than the car.

Have you driven a 130i auto? Or are you just making a massive generalisation?

I'm happy with my choice and no amount of 'slating' my auto and 'bigging up' the manual is going to change that.

Edit: fuel consumption figures for pre LCI manual and auto (in brackets).

I actually drove a 123d auto (not a 130i) about 6 years ago. I wasn't taken by it at all. I gather most auto systems can be software upgraded so I can only guess that's why it seemed so lethargic - to change , not pick up speed. It did that nicely!
