Can anyone advise on this please? I've tried using Photobucket and Flickr and whilst posting, click on the image link, and have added the Flickr image URL between the Img..img and I just get a box with a cross in it.

Cheers,

Al
This is what you need to do in flickr.
Go to your photostream.
Click on the photo you want to link to.
On the next page you should see 4 icons at the bottom right...one is for sharing.
Choose it.
Then choose BBCode and copy the link

Paste that link into your post here.

The image will then appear.

However, Flickr makes the link clickable etc, so you can adjust what you have pasted in and only use the IMG take piece and not worry about the URL tags.

On a sidenote: old pictures can (painstakingly 1 by 1) be fixed by inserting "~original" after the JPG bit of your photobucket picture link...

Thanks guys. When I have more time I'll do a better job lol. Still, link now appears in my post in photo section.

Sorry if it has been asked, (and answered), before, but why does the Forum require images to be downloaded only from a publicly accessible site rather than directly from an individual's PC?

Apologies. I don’t understand your question.

What would happen if you turned your PC off? No connection would mean no images showing, presumably?

You can upload images to the forum (if they're not too big) using the Attachments tab, if you'd prefer not to use imgur or whoever.

Sorry if my query was not clear. A lack of expertise in these matters, I fear.

What I meant was: why not be able to drag a photo from your PC files in Finder or from the PC desktop into the post's text box. I was thinking of the Cayman Owners Forum. That has a paper clip symbol and the words "Drag files here to attach, or choose files... Max total size 0.98MB" at the end of the text box.

To be honest it's better to use a free hosting site and link to the images. This way you can use the images on multiple forums if needed and it also means the forums don't have their available storage space filled up with tons of peoples images.

I use Imgur, really easy to post direct from with their phone app etc or off the PC.

Good point about the filling up of Forum storage space. The Cayman Owners' Forum is used by far fewer than BMW Baby.

Dragging images from a folder to the text box would require a change to the forum software. I am not sure if such a change is available.
As mentioned, use something like imgur.
