Post by Slacky » Wed Apr 05, 2017 1:27 pm

Hey guys

Some one has reversed into my car not a great deal of damage but need to get a quote.

Here's the damage

What's a rough estimate?

Thanks ImageImageImage

Was the wheel turned when they reversed into you? If so, you might want to check for suspension damage.

It was my misses driving. She stopped at a zebra crossing would of thought it was straight. She's taking it to bmw now and I've told her to get them to have a look behind the wheel

She's been and got a quote £2239. Personally I didn't think there was that much damage

Tell me about it. Her insurance rang me earlier and they'll be sending an engineer out to inspect and look at the quote

Will this cause the Mrs' insurance to go up even tho it isn't her fault ?

Mine went from 500 to 750 per year after a non fault bump. Apparently you are statistically more likely to have a fault accident once you have had a non fault one!

That's some bs right there.

She's already got a no fault claim from a couple of years ago when some one reversed into her. Now another one dread to think what the insurance will be come renewal

The third party's insurance rang me yesterday saying she's accepted liability and their fixing the car. Do I have to still tell my insurance even though they've contacted me direct and do i have to declare it come renewal as technically I'm not making a claim?

I would declare it otherwise your insurance could be void.

Holy moly. Over £2200! Do they just pick a number any number will do?
Like how they put 'we have pleasure in presenting ' at the top of the page. If I was you I'd have pleasure in telling them to shove that where the sun don't shine.
On the plus side at least the other party has accepted liability. Be on the safe side and let your insurance know. Don't risk being not covered for the sake of a few quid.

Sad but true, at least with some insurers. As I understand their justification is that if you have a non-fault accident, you are more likely to be driving on higher risk roads.

My insurance went up about £80 last year after a non fault bump, but strangely this year it seems to make no difference if I add it or not. Also, if I say the claim was £500 (paint rear bumper at BMW), or £5000 (what it actually cost after hire car etc) that also makes no difference.
