335d/435d

Post by Greg.W » Fri Oct 06, 2017 4:42 pm

Hey folks

I've had the 123d for 2 and a half years now. I'm getting the itch to change it now as it's the longest I've had a car.

I'm seriously looking at the 335d touring or 435d. Same engine just a different shape, similar prices also.

Any one got one or had one? Likes/dislikes?

Anything to look for? Or any options that are a must have?

Any issues with the engine or anything? The n47 in mine is known for its issues but has been perfect.

Cheers
G

Actually considering the 3/430d now due to it coming in rear wheel drive and the 35d only coming in x drive.

Anyone any experience of both?

I’d opt for the 30d over the 35d. As you mentioned, 35d only available in xDrive, the Twin Turbo set up in the 35d is more troublesome than the single 30d.
Driving them both, there certainly isn’t much difference to be felt from your “bum dyno”, if anything the 30d actually feels more powerful because of the surge from the single turbo boosting. The 35d has a flatter delivery from lower rpm, and much less drama because of the added traction.

It's good to hear from someone who has driven both, so thanks for your reply.

I've read the x dive takes away from the usual bmw feel so think the 30d may be the better option.

A remap takes the 30d to 35d power anyway I believe. Also less to go wrong as you say!

I own a 335d and wouldn't have a 330d for the same reason you said. If you were to remap a 335d then goodbye most things on the road. I've got a tuning box on mine and ACS springs.
The springs are a just on a 335d.

Thanks Marc
