B5 rs4

Post by Rushton » Sat Apr 22, 2017 1:09 am

Anyone had much to do with these? Was on a open stretch of dual carridageway (m135i - jb4) had one come behind me, naturally i floored it expecting to see it vanish. Few moments later it was on its way past me like i was going backwards ( i was still pinned). To add insult to injury im sure it had a dog in the boot.

Im guessing these are capable of running big power? Bit shocked seeing as these are getting on for near 18 years old.

I suppose early ones are 18 years old this year. They were around 375bhp stock.

I had a B5 many years ago. STD size turbos are good for around 450hp. A reliable 500hp isn't difficult to achieve with hybrid k04's and with a bit of head work, intercooler swap, new manifolds, fuel pumps etc 600+ is achievable. Don't let the age of these fool you

I've been done by one of these. Debadged and looked tatty as hell. I was in the XF R sport which was fairly quick. Shot off down the slip road and the next thing this tatty old car is screaming past, noise from the engine is unreal. Made me feel like I was in a 1.2 fiat

Had one over ten years ago now in blue and min had turbo stage2 and pushed out over 550 at the wheels.
Engine is good for big power but the gear box was a weak point needing rebuilt twice.
An appreciating car now and a stealth wagon.

Bit research today, seems 380 stock which wouldnt be a million miles away from my m135i.

Apparently MRC in banbury are getting circa 500 bhp on standard turbos, with the standard engine being capable of 650 ish on rs6 turbo;s.

Wolf in sheeps clothing apparently.

I had one for four years. Awesome car.

380hp standard. Supposedly limited to 155mph - but at the time of launch all the journalists found they could do about 175mph on the Autobahn (urban myth or reality I don't know!).

Mine was remapped by MRC and was 420hp and 560Nm. Went like a scalded cat - never embarrassed me!
Went through the timing lights at 167mph at Bruntingthorpe and was still pulling hard - but was running out of runway.

Audisrs is the best website for information on them.

Only sold it to fund an overspend on a house extension. I'd still have it now (4 years later) otherwise.

Generally a reliable car with the only thing out of the ordinary / wear and tear stuff were exhaust cams that pitted and needed replacing. Consumables are not cheap but if you can afford £1500 per year and could deal with the odd £1000 or £2000 surprise occasionally I think they take a lot of beating.
