Ever wondered what options your car was originally spec'd with? Here's a list of websites that can decode your cars factory options from the VIN. These should work with old BMWs, and cars yet to be built alike.
These sites are nothing to do with BabyBMW and aren't endorsed by us, use them as you please, and at your own risk. If any of them don't seem to be working (or have implemented a signup/paywall) simply try another.

Nice to see. Mine says it has Brake Energy Regeneration. Is this standard or is it an expensive extra. I mentioned it to my dad and he said, 'no it doesn't it would have cost thousands'. Any ideas?
Brake Energy Regeneration as defined by BMW... Make use of every watt: by charging the battery only when your BMW is braking, coasting or decelerating, Brake Energy Regeneration improves fuel efficiency by up to three percent and ensures that the full power of your engine is available for acceleration. So it's nothing like KERs, just when it charges the battery.
There is a VIN decoder on the BMW web site. To use it you have to make an account. But when you have it saves it as your car. You can also make your DREAM car.
Cheers for that marco_polo, ...very interesting seeing all the extras and confirming that my car is as advertised by the dealer with regards to the BMW extras.
