Looking at the instructions, you could use this for any dash cam hard wire?

This one or another third party one. I am getting it. Especially to get those c#### who will smash park into your car whilst you are not there. I want one front and rear motion activated with excellent resolution day and night. Will be on my next car for sure. Or even on the current one if easily swappable.

The genuine dash cam's arnt the most discrete i have seen, if discrete is what you are after take a look at the 'dragon fly' dash cams.

OP, try looking at Nextbase, primarily the 212 Lite. It's what I have in mine, sits behind the mirror, and records in 1080p, with a proper nightshot mode, G meter and motion sensor, so it'll come back on if the cars off overnight, and catch someone trying to break in/hitting your car.

Cost me about £60 from Halfords.
F20 118d M Sport in Estoril Blue
Carbon splitter
Carbon Kidney Grills
Carbon Wing Mirror Covers
Carbon Spoiler

Completely different mirror in the E series so hard to fully hide a cam or even fit it descretely.
