It didn't need it, or he didn't do it? Sounds like there's a good reason battery #2 didn't last very long.
They all need at least registering, and proper coding if changing size or type.
I've sent him a screenshot of this thread. I don't know if it's a lead battery currently in the boot. The mechanic that did the pre-inspection said the battery needs replacing as it's only charging 58% and 11.8V.
Not sure what he'll do but the battery will be replaced before next weekend.
