OEM 1 Series Roof Rack Problems

Post by RedSol » Mon Jan 23, 2017 12:12 am

Hi,
I recently purchased a used 2009 128i and ordered the OEM BMW roof rack part #82 71 0 433 991. I have tried to install the rack several time. The front bar fits the car perfect and doesn't touch the paint. However, when I try to install the rear rack, once tighteded, part of the plastic of the rack pillar is making contact with the paint. I know that the rack is designed to not touch the paint. Am I doing something wrong? Are there any tips for install? I really like the rack but am worried about poor fitment and the contact being made with the paint. Thanks

Sounds like the feet on the rear need swapping over ?? I bought one off gumtree and it was in bits when it arrived. Spent ages looking for instructions and dealer couldn't help. Bit of a jigsaw to be honest. Try putting the rear on the other way round would be my advice. hope this helps??
