Subs to go with the Alpine upgrade

Post by stevei » Fri Oct 27, 2017 7:29 pm

I've had the Alpine upgrade in about 2 months now (the new under the glovebox one).
I've had it coded but i'm not overly impressed with it tbh.
I'm now thinking of upgrading the underseat subs...any recommendations please?

What subs are currently fitted ?
Did car come with the basic speaker package or an upgrade such as Advance, HiFi or Harman Kardon, etc ?

The basic system with the two 6.5" subs but as I said above I've put the Alpine upgrade in.
The upgrade were the amp powers the fronts and tweeters... not the rears and subs

The standard BMW speakers in my E87 M-Sport were atrocious... I've done an Alpine upgrade with tweeters, front door speakers, iLX-700 head unit (CarPlay) and the under-seat subs. I'm also running a 12" Type R sub in the boot as well.

The under-seat subs are the 'Alpine BM200W - 200mm 8" Custom Fit BMW Under-seat Subwoofer' - I'm powering these with an Alpine MRV-F300 4ch. amp.

Obviously the under-seat woofers aren't comparable to larger, 'boot' woofers, but otherwise, they're a decent set of woofers. A hell of a lot better than the standard BMW ones!

Hope this helps...

Earthquake SWS-8's.

I'd also be inclined to recommend you use a separate amp to power the whole system.

I've got a Pioneer AVIC-F80DAB up front, Gladen 201BMW 3 ways up front powered off a JL Audio XD400/4. No real need for a sub in the boot but I will be adding in 2 13.5" JL TW5's soon.

Haha, I had 2x 12W7's in my last car, the whole system was about 2500RMS/5000 Peak. Sadly I never got to unleash the full potential of that system! I need to find the time to get the subs in the 1 Series!

Oh really? Where abouts?! I was probably on my way to work .

How about HK subs? Can be bought cheaply and give a good improvement.

Didn't think HK came in the 1 Series Ex or the 3 Series E9x? What car are they from?

Or Logic 7 then. In the E90 the L7 system became the HK system towards the end of production,

Ah yes, my mistake, Logic 7 is one of HKs lines.
