Looking for cheap / budget dash cam

Hi folks,

I'm after a no frills front facing dash cam that I can use in my daily driver + also in my 130i.

Obviously I'm not going to be hard wiring it + I'm not fussed about the trailing wire.

Suggestions on something reliable for under £50.

Cheers

I’ve got this in my 130i and it’s great. Discreet, good quality and easy to use.

Thanks very much for the recommendation BMWBrad - didn't get myself sorted out with a dash cam still on the to do list so may just get 1 of these they look very discreet Do you have a rear camera as well in the back of your car or do you think its not really worth it? Cheers

Ive got two of those ready to go in the new car. I wanted discrete and no screen which makes these perfect.

I installed my two of these the other day. Very discrete - from outside you wouldn't know they are there.

Very easy to set up - just fit and forget. What I like about them is there's no screen, which means no distraction

It's a little more pricey but still what i would call budget, but I have one of these and really rate it (one in the wife's car too):
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wide-Angle-G-S ... B06XNSDRW8

I fitted mine left of the rear view mirror, so from the drivers sight it can't be seen. The display can be turned off but it's nice to have one for alignment and reviewing, but also has the wifi function so you can see/review on your phone.

I actually had a problem with one of mine about 6 months after purchase and contacted Anker who were brilliant in trouble shooting and finally replacing the item without question, which is the main reason I would recommend this particular camera as Anker is a decent company to deal with.

I like the fact the other camera has the capacitor rather than battery, but to be honest I've never heard of anyone having an issue with the batteries in dashcams anyway.

All ready to go with it just need to put a memory card in it but which memory card?

Was going with 32gb but that's the easy bit - need to stop reading reviews as they are saying you've got to buy this or that + they work out to be half the price of the dash cam!

I think i got a class 10 sandisk 32gb to go in mine.

Look on amazon i think they are reasonable on there for about £13

https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Elite- ... UWLQ4MAU91

Class 10 I think is the important bit as 1080p needs less than a 1/3 of the bandwidth of class 10

The other one I’ve got is this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-530005 ... toshiba+sd

I’ve seen somewhere that sandisk ultra should be avoided due to high failure rate- so if i were you I’d go for the Toshiba. I haven’t had any issues with my sandisk ultra

Big thanks Barneyrubble that helps sort that one out - that Toshiba one you posted is under a tenner which is what I was wanting to pay - think I'll get one of those ordered
