I've done it on other cars with adapters like this:

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ipod-us ... eries-mini

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ipod-us ... -1998-2006

I wonder if there's a kit for the 3 series that just isn't tested on the 1 series but will work. hmmmm. I'm not paying £500 just for steering controls! Would rather buy a better headunit instead.
That's an iPod interface. Pretty sure there is one available for the 1 Series. Quick search find this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Connects2-ICONN ... B005JF0SFI.

Have a look on Dynamic Sounds/Car Audio Security/Sound Evo/Car Audio Direct, etc.
The Connets2 one from Amazon is very good but it only charges the iPhone/iPad. No other functions are available other than volume control through the steering wheel controls.
MY SIGNATURE STOPPED WORKING AFTER AN UPDATE.

That's what I thought. What do you reckon about the other one I linked?

Has anyone tried using an adaptor like this one with an iPhone 5 or above?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lightning-Adapt ... G889GBYN0H" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Will I be able to use steering wheel buttons and idrive?

I don't have any nav or ext Bluetooth.

Cheers

Have you got a combox under the boot floor?

If so you can have Extended BT coded & you'll be able to use the standard apple cable & stream via BT.
F21 M135i - AW CR - lots of options.

**Update - Looking through lots of posts on this forum and popping out to check things on my car a few times, I believe I have the MULF box in the boot which is giving me my bluetooth hands free. This being the case is it just a matter of sourcing a USB Retrofit cable and connecting it all up to the MULF?

I am hoping this will do the trick http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Aux-USB-S ... SwYGFUxdfv" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I know this is a fairly old thread now but I am hoping to get some advice on my recently purchased 120d.

Based on the engine layout, the rear lights, etc it is the FaceLift model (registered Sept 2007). It has the Professional headunit but only the 3.5mm input under the armrest.

I know the USB adapter could not be fitted on the pre-FL model but does anybody know if I can simply install it with my current headunit?
