I've been a lurker on here for a few months now admiring other members cars and potentially looking for one myself in the classifieds.
The right one for me came up and I took ownership on Sunday, so finally have something to post :-D

Coming from driving a small, slightly tired, warm/hot hatch (Smart Forfour Brabus) for 4 years, the new car is a giant leap in refinement and quality.
The previous owner was a member here and took good care of her, I couldn't be happier!

Thanks! Nothing ground breaking, maybe some small touches, bushing inserts, M3 LCA's, black grilles. I wouldn't mind a bit more exhaust noise at some point too.

4 days in and first issue arises.. didn't take long. Low coolant light flashed up on way to work in stop start traffic. went off after 30 secs or so and didn't come back on during journey home.

Appears the expansion tank has a leak looking at the mess, I topped it up, didn't take a great deal. Was a bit worried as I was expecting a float, but it appears it just has this min/max ring instead.

Seems to be a fairly common thing? could be worse, probably the easiest of coolant related problems to fix.

Lovely looking motor fella! Still prefer the E82 shape to the new 2 series shape imo looks brilliant!

Also just installed an MHD Stage 1 map. I was pleased with how easy this was one I bought the kit needed. (Battery charger, USB OTG cable, DCAN cable, Flasher Module, Map pack)

Ctek MXS 5.0 battery charger connected.

The car now feels like I feel it should come out of the factory, noticeably stronger pull, very pleased :D

Great colour, not that I'm biased at all! :lol:

Yeah the map makes a massive difference and is a joy afterwards. But it will only make you want more haha!

Went on a dyno today for a power run just to see what the difference the MHD Stage 1 map made.
Mixed results, book figures are 306 BHP / 295 ft-lb and it made 326BHP / 340ft-lb.

I flashed stage 1 back on while I was there after the stock power runs, it made some pretty big mid range gains which I was pleased to see, but less pleased to see the weird dips and rises, not as smooth as I'd hoped. But fueling etc was all all fine so it all seems safe enough.
