When they then go on to quote me £400 to change the diff/gearbox oil when im supplying the oil....I knew then that it wasnt going to end well. Local guy changed both for £40.

Will do.

It does highlight something I believe most of us should do,if you have any doubts about the seller or the product then use a credit card, they absolutely take no prisoners when it comes to consumer protection and they have no regard for ToS which infringe on those rights.

Front struts are done! No more rubbing/bottoming for me and I had a few speedbump jumps just to make sure :D . What I have found out now is how woefully damped the back end is. I think I will replace those as well for good measure.....
Now my attention is focusing on the slop in the propshaft,it is definitely worn but Im torn on replacing all the bushing/bearings or just getting a new one... I have not come across high quality aftermarket performance options, this would swing it for me tbh.

So,after a decently long drive,I went all zen and started focusing on the things bothering me...

The whine that I have...This one was bothering me but I have narrowed it down some. I thought it was the diff but that would whine all the time, this whine is only 2nd gear,1st too but much less than 2nd. Is this common? Is it something worth getting serviced/repaired?

The back end... just feels loose,a bit '4 wheel steery' if you know what I mean. Something is changing geometry back there.

Prop has slop in it but Im cant tell if its the union or something else.

Other than that....run flats are truly awful things. I mean....I had a solid tyred bike as a child (Age showing) and Im pretty certain it had a better ride...

Well hello fellow local (Bexleyheath) 125i owner.

Wish I could help with some of your concerns but alas I'm not very mechanically minded. However happy enough to help any way I can.

First stop - remap - 215 to 265bhp will make a significant difference to your project I'm sure.

Second stop - ditch the run flats, but then you know this already lol

I have the VMR v710 with MPSS tyres and they are both awesome. Also M3 lower control arms and front eibach ARB with the BMWP strut brace and am very happy with how it feels and handles.

Happy to meet up and compare cars should you wish/want to

Would only be the second 125i I've seen in the flesh.

Remap will be last for me,pretty sure the bearings for the 1st-2nd Layshaft are on the way out, they need replacing along with the driveshaft bushings. Once thats done and the intake/exhaust is fitted along with a walnut blast, then its ready for MOAR POWAAAAAAAH. I always do engine last, especially when the (expensive) drivetrain has concerns to address.

So much to do...

Where are you thinking of taking it for a respray?

Getting quotes now,the consensus is around £1500-2k for same colour (LMB so damn right same colour!) windows in respray. Im dab hand with a gun myself but I dont have the garage space....

The joy of buying older cars...

So...the paint job is getting put back as the diff pinion bearing sounds like crap. I have ordered up a throw in diff for now while I weigh up my options, namely getting Quaife internals for the OE diff and getting it rebuilt with roller bearings.... The idea being I would have a useable car until im ready to drop the subframe again for bushings and slotting the LSD in. Throw in diff was £350 so Im still ahead over getting a rebuild right now.

Its a bit back to front but the diff needs TLC now rather than later....

Shame really as I just sold my little work rocket which would of been handy right now,I could of done it the right way round!
