Hi all, doesn't appear to be an introductions section so will post here. :lol2:
Been a member of Bimmerforums for years but it's becoming quite inactive, the 2 series section especially (which I suppose is a good thing thing in a way). Thought I would give this forum a try with it being 1/2 series specific. From Barnsley, owned a new f22 m240i LCI for 6 months now, really pleased with it and no real issues. Just done my first upgrade which is Birds B2 suspension....absolutely brilliant and has resolved one of the things I slightly disliked about the car which was the bouncy crashy handling especially on fast B roads. So much more composed now and I'm a lot more confident driving it. Planning on a Quaife LSD once my wallet has recovered from surgery. Previous BMW's, had a E46 330ci SE, then a 325ti. Missis currently drives a e91 335d LCI which I sneaked out in and had remapped by Simon from e maps which he rolling roaded to 350 bhp and 710 nm. As much as I like the diesel, it pales in comparison to the b58 engine in my 2 series. What an engine and is the highlight of the car in my opinion. Only other thing I had done to the car was a ceramic coating when it was new. Clean Detail in Doncaster did a new car detail and applied Gyeon MOHS plus coating. Really happy with the product and service. Look forward to contributing to the forum. Cheers. Andy

Looks great!
I've only had my M140i a few weeks, and looking forward to the spring and summer.
Did Birds supply and fit the suspension? how long did it take them? £?
I don't have adaptive suspension and do find it rather 'firm'.
I know it needs to cope with the power, but I am hearing good things about the conversion they offer.
I don't really want the car to be lowered if possible either, as a daily driver it still need to be practical.
Cheers,
Mike

Welcome Racey, great looking finish on that paint, I do think ceramic coatings and acrylic sealants give a better glassy look on metallics and lighter colours. Carnauba wax on blacks and dark colours.
Did your detailer supply you with a top up spray to apply in the future ? Extends the life of the ceramic big time.

nice.

what was the lowering on the birds suspension?

was the suspension changed after the detail? As the pictures don't look like much lowering?

Thanks everyone, regarding the Birds suspension, Birds didn't install as they are a good 3.5 hour drive for me so just supplied the kit. Was going to install myself but on a driveway in winter ? :lol2: I didn't fancy it so took it to a company called Bram Racing in Pontefract who specialise in suspension and alignment. All in the kit cost me about £1300 and £285 to install which included a Hunter 4 wheel alignment. The more I drive the car the more I like how it drives, it is a huge improvement over stock. The biggest improvement is at high speed, it no longer lollops about and crashes over bumps, it sits much flatter and composed, and just soaks up bumps and potholes they have got the damper setting absolutely spot on. Miles more confident in it now. The kit itself compromises of Biltein dampers which are bespoke to Birds and have been valved to their specification, the springs are Eibach and again to their spec, you can't buy them elsewhere. I also opted for the 10mm front wheel spacers which widens the track 20mm (Im a maths genius :lol2: ). This again is recommended by Birds to improve steering feel and it does work. It feels a lot more "pointy" now if that makes sense. The photos of the car are literally after i had the car 4 days, I collected it and took it straight to Clean detail for a new car detail so the kit hadn't been fitted. As for lowering, it doesn't noticeably lower the car, according to Birds you might get 5 to 10mm at the very most. They tried lower on their demo m235i but said it was detrimental to handling on typical uk roads. I also opted for black shocks rather than yellow as apart from the Bilstein stickers, look like stock. As for the coating, all I use is Gyeon Cure which is a coating specific maintenance spray. I have also just applied Gyeon Cancoat and have to say is one of the best products I have ever used. Water beading and gloss is just crazy, it can also be used on non-coated cars. I am into my detailing, its a strange and expensive condition to catch :lol2: I get many gone out looks from neighbours who just whizz down the road to the eastern european car wash and are back in ten mins.....and Im still there 4 hours later :celebrate:
