Apex's Space Grey E82 120d

Post by ApexLG » Sat Feb 25, 2017 5:21 pm

Hi all,
Thought it was about time a made a little thread about my Baby BMW; it's a 2011 120d in space grey. Insurance was surprisingly cheap with a black box, as I'm only 19. It was down to an A3 TDI Black Edition, but glad I made the right choice. Spec wise I wasn't too picky as this is my second car, my first being a '03 1.4 Ibiza SE this one came up so I swiftly snapped it up!
Heated Leather
Front + Rear PDC
Auto lights/wipers
CC
Unfortunately no iDrive or Angel eyes however I can live with it!
The day I picked him up-

First thing I did was take the badge off the back, followed by swapping my Sh*tenza RFTs for Eagle Asym 3's
Image
Camber pin mod followed which hopefully will reduce my shoulder wear.
I have big plans for this car and I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's ideas Image
Darklines have arrived and will be fitting ben shortly...

Looks like a clean example, and you've already started modding too! It's a slippery slope 8) welcome!

Congratulations and welcome to the home of baby BMW.

Cars looks lovely and for only 19 you should be chuffed to bits to own such a brilliant car.

We've had a couple of new young guys join recently and will only say that you must check with your insurance company first their policy on aesthetic modifications and then declare all modifications. I only say this because my old insurance company said nothing extra on my premium when I declared my boot spoiler, I then declared various parts and mods throughout the year, but when it came to renewal they wanted an extra £400!!!

They said if i remove the performance air filter and boot spoiler they'll reduce price by £300. So it varies from company to company.

Anyway darklines are a great start and eagle asymmetrics and camber pin are essential. Black grilles would look awesome too and a hundred other mods that will sap your cash quicker than Las Vegas casino lol

Any questions just ask and we'll do our best - especially if you start to look at changing your alloys.

Cheers Twenny
I've had a bit of a gander with my insurance and I did declare my remap which makes me realise I did forget to mention that lol.
Took it town to P-Torque which is half an hour from me, did have to chase Will for about 3 weeks trying to get my dyno results, however I am pleased with the results. Got them through last week.

Darklines got fitted today,
Before
Image
I did have a little problem with the LED lighting up, but it was due to the bulb being the wrong way in its holder as you can see.

Now they're fitted!

Definitely an essential on E82s

Very nice motor you got there pal, same car same age lol. Similar situation to me with the black box, but I decided to bite the bullet and pay more to avoid having a box installed.

Biggest tip from myself and some higher authority chaps on the forum is to keep personal details to yourself by ignoring personal and private questions, after all, this is a forum for collaboration, innovation and sharing experiences. Not a law investigation!:)

I strongly recommend a nice set of 313 M alloys if you want to stick to the OEM look that is. A nice set of smoked repeaters, boot spoiler and a set of black grills. Personally I would mostly stick to OEM, only because you're driving a decent BMW, that's actually worth some and OEM parts are always going to be of good quality from BMW:)

Good luck with the rest of your mods mate, I look forward to seeing future pics:)

Thanks mate, this is what I have planned;

•Painted/Carbon spoiler- really not sure which yet
•Dual exhaust tips
•Black diffuser, or a Rieger one
•Black Kidneys
•Going to keep the 261's for now, but get a refurb and respray
•H&Rs or Eibach springs
•Some alcantara trim and steering wheel
•Black front splitter

We'll see how it pans out!

More changes going on, this time I had the backbox deleted and a straight pipe to a twin tip. Does sound a lot better, and looks way better than the oval tip for a decent price!
