I would like a nicer sounding exhaust on my 130i, and seeing as its old now, there are very limited aftermarket exhausts around.
My query is, if I order an aftermarket exhaust for a 135i, is there only minor tweaking of the brackets that needs to be done in order to fit to my 130i?
You'll have to cut the flange off the pipe and then have it adapted with a reducer to fit the 130i 2.5" centre section, the 135 exhaust has a bigger diameter.
Hangers will need adapting too as the hanger positions for 135i coupe are further back than for the hatchback.
These will give you some info on the most cost effective way to get a bit more sound out of the 130:
the reason there aren't many aftermarket exhausts for the 130i is that the cars are rare. I would go custom on one of these assuming the likes of eisenmann /milltek are out of budget.
Cost me £50 for the backbox and £40 to have it fitted at an exhaust custom place.
I then had the opportunity to buy a 135i performance backbox which I again got for a bargain. And again £40 to fit. To be honest not that much difference on cold start, but once you open the taps it sounds amazing -

I must say part of me wants to say ah ****it and get a BMWP box as it does seem to sound good and with the peace of mind that its properly designed to give the best performance as opposed to a 'custom' exhaust with no concern for back pressure for low down torque.
