Mitsubishi M47 Turbo dissasembly tips VNT

Post by slindborg » Mon Mar 26, 2018 10:49 am

Hi folks,

My M47 ate its turbo at long last (been making a racket since November).
I have the turbo out of the car and on my dining table (mrs is soooo happy), and split the housings off it.

How does one remove the VNT/VGT mechanism from the core? There are no obvious little bolts etc, but there is a larte ring with 3 lugs on it, would that be a big ole nut to remove and get it all off?

Seems all the videos on the net I've found are aimed at the type which have little bolts etc and not at the mitsi one.
Cheers

Problem solved.

Since the core was stuffed, I got a 3 legged puller on the VNt hosing and turbine shaft. a few very very gentle turns and off it popped.

I can imagine that some may have more trouble depending how coked up it is.

Didnt take any pics then as I was covered in oil/soot

I can fashion a sort of close pic with the dead core but no VNT fitted, can annotate another pic though

I have to make a new top for the table when summer arrives... Thats part of the "deal", also getting the car working again is high on her list of priorities too
