Squeaky steering wheel

Post by Boombap » Wed Nov 08, 2017 6:47 pm

Occasionally noticing a squeaking directly from behind the steering wheel, this has only developed recently and oddly only occurs when turning from right to center.

A clip of the culprit:

Would this indicate an issue with the belt or pump?

Can’t watch the video but I had a similar issue. The steering column passes through a rubber grommet in the bulkhead/firewall. Spray a load of silicone grease around there and turn the wheel back and forth. Mine hasn’t been back since

Have you tried re-adjusting your steering rake/position, my E91 squeaks, changed the rake etc, and its gone.
Current - 2012 318d N47 Touring - 78,000 miles
Past - 2008 118d N47 - last seen 180,000 miles

Why did I not think of that.. seems to have sorted the issue (for good hopefully)

Will report back if it re-occurs
