Black High Gloss pillar trim Swirls!! (5 door)

Post by Tom_E » Sat Mar 25, 2017 6:45 pm

Anybody Else find that the high gloss pillar trims swirl just by looking at them?

Washed my M140i twice now, the paint work is flawless but the pillars looks sh*t and full of swirls.

Best way to improve? Tried AF tough prep and tried triple As that what I currently have in terms of polish.

Only thing you can do is machine polish the scratches out and use some sealant on them like gtechnic or similar to help protect them

They scratch and swirl so easily. My whole car needs detailing professionally as bodged dealer prep has caused such a mess everywhere

PoorBoys Black Hole could hide the swirls.

I don't have them on the F21, but there is still the door mirror mounts and trim.

You can machine polish them to restore them, I would imagine you'd want to only use a mild cut polish.
Failing that anything with 'fillers' in will mask the problem - good old Super Resin Polish should do the trick.

If you want to prevent them getting swirled again if you can possibly manage it don't rub your wash mitt (no sponges! ever!) over them - just soak and rinse off.

Ok thanks everyone. Might look at using some glaze like black hole as mentioned above.

Need something to satisfy my OCD!
