On the Peter Vardy example the GFV on a M140i SE after 4 years is £15,124. On the Q4 example quoted by TRL at the usual finance rates the GFV is £17,428.
This is TRL 3yr deal GTFV. this vardy deal is 48months hence 15484 GTFV.

Well spotted and my bad! He quoted for a 4 year PCP on the non shadow edition - should have looked more closely at the SE quote.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t a lower GFV a better thing? This gives you more room for equity when trading the car in at the end of the term?

I’m having an issue with the car I’m in at the moment where the GFV is possibly too high, leaving me I’m negative equity if I were to sell the car privately.

If the interest rate is being transferred to a lower GFV I would see this as a positive. Right?
Indeed. If the GFV is high, you're protected against the bottom falling out of the market for the car, but are paying for the privilege of this protection by increasing the size of the capital upon which interest has to be paid. You can skew things in your favour, however, by raising the excess mileage to the mix (usually 10k pa), which reduces you GFV, reducing the capital sum borrowed, increases your deposit or monthlies, and hence reduces the amount of interest to be repaid.

As you'd expect, GFV is never set higher than the standard clean dealer trade-in price, which you'd expect to get whatever the GFV says on your finance deal.

HOLD ON EVERYONE CALM DOWN..... just need to hijack this thread ..... this is not a TRUE manafacturers supported 0% DEAL>
I have had so many emails I need to make a statement to explain.
This offer is dealer supported. ALL BMW dealers are offering it HOWEVER the deal is supported by the dealer to the tune of around 5% of their
margin. This means that you will end up with 5% less discount off of the car to begin with. On top of that, for the M140 the deposit contribution has dropped by £250. And of course you only get the true benefit of 0% finance if you max out the term to 4 years and keep the car for 4 years.
if you trade it in when its 2 years old then you only had half the saving..... and paid more for the car in the first place.
Yes this offer does save a small amount per month over the standard 4.9% rate. But its not as huge as everyone thinks and its on stock cars only.
Last time I looked there were hardly any M140 out there.... its the same story for the M3 and M4 deal... the dealer has to support it with margin.
So yes its a good deal but its not all it would appear so please go in with your eyes open... and make sure you get the right car not just the last one left on the shelf because it looked cheap...... by the way I might have to start advertising parts on my section now boys!!!
"I don't sell cars, I sell thin air, as we have run out of cars".....
