Severely Unimpressed

Post by Pands » Tue May 27, 2014 12:54 pm

Called sky at the beginning of the month to swap my insurance from the 130i to the m135i... Unfortunately they could only insure me with a tracker ... As such looked for insurance elsewhere and eventually got insured with Churchill for around the same price minus the tracker.

Called them again today to cancel and have been told it's £82 to cancel my policy... Asked to speak with a manager who isn't available and simply got told to put it into writing.

Trying to get a breakdown on the costs now..... It complicates things cause I paid monthly (usually pay outright).

Really annoys me that they have had around £100 upfront £40 a month with zero claims and then want another £82 to go elsewhere.

Best policy, best price, best service my a**s

If you cancel the policy, don't you lose your NCD for the year?

Makesure they understand that an intimation of dissatisfaction can come in various forms including written, verbal via phone, email or in person or by way of third party. Their complaints procedure can not preclude any of these methods and they cannot insist to accept this only in writing. It would be wholly unreasonable for a firm who sell their products by telephone to not accept a complaint over the phone.

Welcome to my world!! In the past 5 years, I have insured 2 cars and 3 motorbikes and each time had to cancel (with charges, usually £50) and pay another deposit and start again...

The whole insurance industry is a con... needs far heavier regulation.
Awaiting new car!

This will be a telematics box... not a tracker as such. Records lateral cornering G, acceleration, breaking and breaking the speed limit. Fine if you are 17...

Not when you have just bought a car that does 60 in sub 5 IMO

I was actually with Sky with my focus Rs and they insisted on me fitting a tracker when I changed, but they wanted a cat 5 (I think) tracker for theft purposes more than the 'black box' which monitor how you drive! Ended up cancelling policy and swapping over, the previous two years, where I dealt with Luke were excellent! Problems when a company expands like they have.

Guys.. sorry, been absolutely snowed under with work and turned 29 on Friday so haven't had time to check back on the forum.

They didn't want a black box style tracker... id never put one of them anywhere near the car tbh.

I never received a call back from sky, however they did send a final response letter stating the charges... doesn't seem like theres an awful lot I can do.. to be fair its all buried away in the terms and conditions.

Wont be going anywhere near them in the future!!

I got done like this with Adrian Flux couple of years back.

Its odd really that they shaft you like this as the result is I will never use them again, regularly disclose my experience with other potential customers and spent their money by requesting a Subject Access Request under the DPA to review EVERYTHING they held on file about me and all phone audio recordings

Mention the Ombudsman. That would cost them £500 so they might prefer to waive the fees...
