Adrian flux have just done it to me! Had a 1.2 Corsa sxi and was paying 1100 a year but when I bought the 116d they wanted 3300 but tesco were offering 800 when I cancelled they said it would cost me around 190 to cancel!

Saga continues...

Still never got a call from the manager at sky.. a few days after receiving the letter saying that my insurance had been cancelled, I got another from them stating that I must repay the outstanding balance within 7 days or they will be sending the case to a debt collectors

After receiving the final balance my usual monthly payment got taken from my account (I didn't want to cancel my DD for risk of giving these cowboys any reason to add charges/credit history).

Fine I thought... outstanding balance minus monthly payment equals what's left.... I called to pay, and was told that this wasn't the case and I had to pay more... WTF how can they ask for more than a final statement.

After spending 30 minutes on the phone going back and forth with Megan and the hidden manager they finally agreed to settle on the original figure.

Sky.. I am shocked as to how short sighted your company polices are.. to me you are simply a bunch of cowboys who I will never entertain the thought of getting insurance with again!

I asked Megan to send me a letter confirming that as far as me and sky insurance & universal finance are concerned that everything is squared away and finished... Lets see if the letter turns up so it can all be put down as a life lesson.

I tried to get a quote from them in February, they advertise on here so thought they would be worth a try, I was on hold for 45 minutes and gave up :|

Then I saw this thread.

Is there anybody on here that can recommend Sky Insurance?

P.S. I then got my R's slapped by Sheilas Wheels and 2 weeks later I'm with General Accident, so far so good!

If only Carlsberg did car insurance :D

Try brentacre, they base your policy in your bhp not modifications, they cap your bhp and anything you do doesn't increase your premium unless you go over that bhp, plus there is no £20 charge to add on new modifications

I can understand why a company would have a cancelation charge but this is a rather high one. It would be fairer if the policy was written so that if the insurer changed the premium and/or terms as a result of the customer changing their car then the customer should be given the option to cancel the insurance at no cost. Given that most people don't change cars more than once a year it shouldn't impact on the insurers business.
Now: Manual M135i in Estoril Blue with heated lumbar electric seats, pro media with speed limit, electric folding mirrors.
Then: Mazda RX8 PZ, 626 GSi, 323 Fastback.

It's all about T & Cs. If they comply with the agreed terms then one shouldn't complain. If they don't then seek redress through the Ombudsman. Anything else is a waste of time.

Brentacre were expensive for me. I'm with Sky at the moment and cant complain at all with the service. Renewal is due end of the month but it seems a bit expensive. It's gone down to £710 from £750. Going to shop around to be honest.

I've jumped between aviva and admiral for the past few years. Only because their "new customer" deals are better than renewal. Can't fault either of them when I've needed help or change details. I changed my reg the other week, a quick email to admiral and a £19 fee. Done in 10 mins :D no waiting on the phone and dialling a premium number or listening to classical music. Sometimes the cheapest deal isn't the best...
Now: 2006 130i with even more goodies ;)
Gone: 2008 116i with goodies :)

What about modifications though? My renewal is due this month but I'm currently shopping around. Waiting for Brentacre to get back to me and gonna try HIC. Sky want £710 for the renewal. I was with Admiral before but I had to have a speed/time/tracker installed if I wanted to renew. I quickly told them where to stick that tracker.

They wanted me to use the box when I was 23! (26 in June). Insurance came to £800. My area isn't great in terms of lower quotes! Brentacre have quoted me a good price, quite surprising considering last year it was expensive, cheaper than Sky and with more benefits.

Iv just done mine with brentacre today the guy I spoke to seemed really tidy aswell! Was a tiny bit more pricey but I don't mind as they don't charge you any administration charges if you add mods, Adrian flux used to charge me £20 every time I changed something just I add it to the policy
