Claim Issues RE Courtesy Car

Post by grantldn » Sat Apr 16, 2016 11:09 am

So I was involved in an accident last night which I have reported. (A moody out of hours girl)

But I now have to wait until Monday to speak to a claims handler and I am now left stranded without a courtesy car until at least Monday.

Why am I paying extra for a courtesy car service if I am being left stranded when I need to use the car most.

Seriously not happy! :telloff:

I can't believe the drama I am having with sorting a courtesy car!

I have been without a car now since friday evening, I have to get to work and I have a 5 week old baby who I need to transport.

Considering you are putting the claim through as not being my fault I would have thought a car could have been arranged a lot sooner.

Thanks for nothing.

Are you dealing with your own insurer or the other person's insurance company?

Looks like it could be Sky Insurance, a forum sponsor.

Currently going through sky, but they are processing this as a non fault claim on myself.

But I can't get a courtesy car until my car eitehr goes in for repair throguh fix auto (it hasn't even been looked at and estimated yet) or through enterprise when the other party admit liability.

But I went in to her rear due to her swerving over and emergency braking to she didnt hit the car in front of her. So her insurance admiting liability isn't going to happen in reality.

I'm almost certain when going through the options on the telephone with the sales person I opted for the extra to have a courtesy car even if at fault etc.

Looking on this forum section, sky don't seem to pay much attention.

But I guesss they say you find out how good your insurance company are when you are processing a claim. I have had to do all the chasing so far also. Been told I would receive call backs and never.

Sky were okay with my claims to be honest but then again the insurance isn't underwritten by them. It's with someone else. Who is the underwriter that you are with? WhatsApp me if you want Bro.

Yeah I was about to mention after my last post. It's not so much Sky it's the underwriters.

My insurance is underwritten by Axa.

Kinderton managed the first one. Only complaint was the handover of cars. I was told a courtesy car would be given between 9 - 12. Didn't come till 6pm. So I not only lost a days work but had to cancel on plans in the evening.
Then I went direct to Ageas for the second one. Complaint so far is it's taking the p*ss to get the car repaired. Will PM you about it.

Ageas are my underwriters. Sky are just the middle man really.

First time round they said they HAD to manage the accident and for me to put a claim though I HAD to take their hire car. They stressed it's not a courtesy car but a hire car and they recover the costs from the 3rd party insurers.
Second time round they said I had a choice whether they manage it or not and I didn't have to take the hire car to put a claim in.

Insurance is one big joke and con!

That hire car issue is what I'm having trouble with from kindertons. Accident back in August and my repair has been settled but the hire car charge hasn't, 4 weeks hire car = £7500. rip off. More trouble than it's worth imo, I wish I never had a hire car.

Sounds like you actually need one daily but try a courtesy not hire car. They are so sure they can claim the costs back from the other side, but they can't if the other insurance refuse to Pay it.I'm still fighting it since August.

Just to add I'm not with Sky just my experience with kindertons

Take it Kindertons are an accident management company? I'd avoid using them like the plague. Go straight through to AXA and ask for your courtesy car. These "hire cars" are overpriced sh*te that will be billed to you if the other insurer does not pay out.

Been some proper horror stories from these types of con artists on the interweb. Be cautious.
